Pretoria, 28 August 2023: The Range Rover Velar provides customary Range Rover refinement, with heightened comfort and convenience to promote a greater sense of wellbeing for every occupant.

A suite of advanced technologies delivers superior refinement on every journey, including the latest cabin air purification, noise cancellation and chassis systems, for serene progress on every journey.

Active Road Noise Cancellation

Active Road Noise Cancellation technology1 ensures the Range Rover Velar offers the quietest cabin in its class*. The intelligent technology works like a pair of high-end noise cancelling headphones, constantly monitoring vibrations from the road surface, and calculating the opposite phase sound wave needed to mask the noise heard by occupants.

Standard on all models, Active Road Noise Cancellation features accelerometers located in each wheel arch that detect vibrations that lead to road noise transmission. The advanced system then calculates an audio signal to replay over the speakers, to reduce the decibel level inside the cabin.

The effect is subtle, but the reduction – by a minimum of four decibels – ensures an even more refined and calming interior space. The system even uses the seatbelt sensors to fine tune its output to suit the number of passengers and their position inside the vehicle.

The technology delivers a more peaceful drive and helps to alleviate fatigue over long journeys, which can be brought about by exposure to low frequency noises over extended periods.

Enhanced cabin air

The Range Rover Velar is available with the latest Cabin Air Purification Plus system. It supports a healthier cabin environment as part of the optional Comfort Pack. By combining a range of features, Cabin Air Purification Plus helps cleanse the interior air using advanced technologies that work in harmony to enhance every trip.

The air filtration system uses a PM2.5 Enhanced Filtration set-up, which uses external and internal sensors to detect the concentration of fine particulates, which can be harmful in large quantities. To activate the system, the driver simply presses the Purify button on the Air Quality page within Pivi Pro4, and the feature automatically senses, displays and reduces the PM2.5 level inside the vehicle.

Once activated, Cabin Air Ionisation and CO2 Management are also engaged. CO2 Management detects the CO2 level inside and outside the vehicle, and displays the airflow inside the Range Rover Velar to show it actively reducing the amount of carbon dioxide present in the cabin. It does this by automatically reintroducing fresh external air when necessary.

Cabin Air Purification Plus also features Cabin Air Ionisation. This advanced feature improves wellbeing by improving the air quality inside by ionising individual particles. In this way it removes potentially harmful allergens, viruses, airborne bacteria and associated odours5.

The system can be activated within Pivi Pro or switched on automatically when the Purify function is engaged. Drivers can also view an Air Quality Index level at their current location or, by using navigation information, their destination. It is also capable of showing the air quality forecast.

For ultimate convenience, you can purge cabin air prior to a journey remotely, using the smartphone app, so every trip begins with optimum interior air quality.

Inviting cabin

The Range Rover Velar welcomes occupants with new, more supportive multi-adjustable seat designs. The seats are complemented by a range of colour and material choices, with five leather colours available including Ebony, Cloud, Deep Garnet, Raven Blue and Caraway, depending on the model.

Range Rover Velar Dynamic SE models feature 14-way front seats with driver memory, while Dynamic HSE models are fitted with 20-way front seats with driver memory, plus a power reclining function for the rear seats.

The Range Rover Velar Autobiography features heated and cooled 20-way massage front seats with driver memory and rear power recline, for the ultimate comfort and most luxurious seating. Finished in exquisite Windsor leather as standard, the Autobiography is available with optional perforated UltrafabricsTM and KvadratTM textile seats – a tactile fabric option with a sophisticated Diamond Herringbone pattern.

Configurable Cabin Lighting with a choice of 30 interior colours allows occupants to personalise the interior, with subtle lighting accents to the doors, console and footwells, while preset colour themes make it even easier to choose the perfect colour combination.

On entering the Range Rover Velar, a warm white light complements the exterior welcome lighting for a consistent and sophisticated appearance every time it’s unlocked. Once the vehicle is started, the Configurable Cabin Lighting adopts the last settings chosen by the driver.

Range Rover Velar combines comfort with effortless practicality. Access to the loadspace is effortless thanks to a Powered Tailgate, which opens to reveal a spacious luggage area of up to 748 litres with the rear seats in place, or up to 1,811 litres with the rear seats folded.

Comfort-enhancing chassis systems

Customary Range Rover ride comfort and refinement is provided by a suite of advanced chassis and suspension systems. Optional Electronic Air Suspension provides luxurious ride comfort in all conditions with a range of additional features designed to make life easier, while improving off-road capability with a maximum ground clearance of 251mm.

It features Elegant Arrival, which automatically reduces the Range Rover Velar’s body height by 40mm to aid entry and exit, in addition to Auto Access Height, which lowers the maximum body height to 1,638mm – to assist when driving in height-restricted areas. Active Speed Lowering2 enhances fuel-efficiency at speeds above 105km/h, by lowering the vehicle to reduce aerodynamic drag.

The Electronic Air Suspension system is also self-levelling, maintaining the optimum ride height when towing or carrying heavy loads for improved comfort and composure. It also assists when hitching a trailer, or when loading or unloading from the boot, with controls inside the luggage compartment able to raise or lower the suspension by 50mm.

The Range Rover Velar’s cossetting ride quality enhances the overall refinement. It maintains its composure on rougher roads while smoothing out bumps with Adaptive Dynamics, an advanced chassis system that continuously varies the damping forces at each wheel. It does this by monitoring wheel movements 500 times per second, and body movements 100 times per second, and is standard on all models.

Driving characteristics can also be tailored to the driver’s preferences using Configurable Dynamics, which tunes specific elements of the chassis and powertrain to suit the road conditions or driving style.

Tailor-made options packs

The Range Rover ownership experience is elevated by a range of new Option Packs that combine key features, making it easier than ever to tailor the Range Rover Velar. They include:

  • Comfort Pack – features the advanced Cabin Air Purification Plus system, Four-zone Climate Control, Configurable Cabin Lighting, a solar attenuating windscreen and a lockable cooled glovebox to make life as easy and comfortable as possible.
