Pretoria, South Africa – Wednesday, 09 April 2025 – In a dazzling confluence of heritage and innovation, Range Rover has unveiled its first-ever installation at Milan Design Week: Futurespective: Connected Worlds. Presented in collaboration with the California-based design studio NUOVA, this immersive installation transports visitors across time—inviting them into a multisensory journey that spans five decades of luxury, design, and automotive evolution.
Unveiled at the historic Palazzo Belgioioso, the installation is a cinematic exploration of Range Rover’s enduring design language, merging the marque’s storied past with its present-day pursuit of modern luxury. In collaboration with Range Rover’s in-house creative team, NUOVA has curated an experience that is as evocative as it is groundbreaking—placing the viewer at the intersection of memory and imagination.
A Monument to Timeless Design
At the heart of the experience is a 25-metre monolith that rises from the Piazza Belgioioso, its gleaming surface adorned with the Range Rover motif in gold—an invitation to step into another time. From this symbolic threshold, guests are transported to the brand’s inception in 1970, entering a richly detailed recreation of a classic 1970s car dealership.
Within this first capsule lies ‘YVB 151H’, the very first pre-production Range Rover ever built. Presented in its original Olive Green finish, the vehicle sits in a wood-panelled room designed to reflect the tactile richness and chromatic depth of the decade. Here, the past is not a static museum piece—it’s an experience that breathes.
Bespoke furniture by NUOVA defines the space: an oxblood red sofa, Carrara marble table, and period-inspired desk chairs evoke a sense of curated nostalgia. An array of retro artifacts—including archival sketches and even a classic fish tank—further animates the setting. The ambiance is completed by a warm cascade of light from 44 bespoke ceiling beams, soundscapes delivered through NUOVA’s chrome-plated Dorothy speaker, and the scent of Grand Rose, a custom fragrance with notes of aged leather and vintage currency by NUOVA’s luxury fragrance arm, Aeir.
Even the time travel concierge hosts reflect the attention to detail, dressed in custom 1970s-inspired workwear crafted in collaboration with LA’s L’Equip atelier.

A Portal to the Future
From this rich evocation of the past, visitors transition into an ethereal space that signals the brand’s contemporary expression of modern luxury. The second capsule—a luminous prismatic chamber—features mirrored vertical pillars symbolising time’s infinite strands. At its centre, illuminated by a halo of ambient light, stands the latest fifth-generation Range Rover Autobiography in a bespoke metallic green—a nod to its 1970 predecessor.
In this space, the narrative turns forward-looking. Wet Stone, a cool, clean bespoke scent, permeates the capsule, while ambient audio pulses softly, offering a moment of quiet reflection. This is Range Rover not as a machine, but as a statement—a blend of heritage, technology and craftsmanship refined for the present and beyond.
Where Heritage Meets Horizon
The collaboration between Range Rover and NUOVA is more than a design showcase—it’s a dialogue between generations. As Prof. Gerry McGovern OBE, Chief Creative Officer at JLR, remarked:
“We are excited to be showcasing Range Rover’s enduring creative legacy at Milan Design Week. Futurespective: Connected Worlds immerses guests in our founding year and juxtaposes this with our vision for today. Today, Range Rover still exemplifies modernity… Our time travel experience illustrates how we recognise our past, whilst not being harnessed by it.”
Echoing this sentiment, NUOVA co-founders Enrico Pietra and Rodrigo Caula reflected on the alignment between their philosophy and that of Range Rover:
“Our exploration of time travel isn’t merely nostalgic or speculative—it’s a lens through which we examine how design, innovation, and craftsmanship weave together across eras.”
Designing Legacy
Futurespective: Connected Worlds is more than an exhibition—it is a tactile, sonic, and olfactory manifestation of Range Rover’s DNA. As the marque continues to define and redefine modern luxury, this landmark installation underscores the power of storytelling through design.
At Milan Design Week 2025, Range Rover has not simply showcased a vehicle; it has opened a portal to its past, present, and future—one that invites us all to journey through the connected worlds of timeless innovation.
