Ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, McLaren Automotive has unveiled Project Viva, a one-of-one 750S Spider designed and created by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the brand’s bespoke division renowned for transforming creative inspiration into automotive artistry. This latest MSO commission takes the energy, spectacle, and rhythm of Las Vegas and translates it into a truly unique supercar.
A City of Lights, Reimagined in Monochrome
While Las Vegas is celebrated for its neon glow and vibrant colour palette, Project Viva takes a deliberately unexpected approach. The car’s intricate monochrome livery, titled Sketch in Motion, captures the essence of the city through hand-painted linework. Iconic signage, the skyline, and the city’s ties to music and performance are woven into the design, reflecting both the character of Las Vegas and McLaren’s own racing and design heritage.
The monochrome theme is punctuated by bespoke MSO paints, including Muriwai White, featured on elements such as shutters and doors within the Muriwai House motif, and Vegas Nights, a new MSO-exclusive deep black infused with subtle cyan, magenta, and green flecks, designed to evoke the neon glow of the city after dark. Each sketch, texture, and colour has been applied with intent, telling a story that extends beyond aesthetics to embody the city’s energy and movement.
Collaboration with McLaren Racing
Adding a personal touch, Formula 1 drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri contributed hand-applied details, including the team’s tenth Constructors’ World Championship star on the rear bumper, alongside signature lines and individual sketches. Their involvement highlights McLaren Racing’s commitment to high performance both on the track and through MSO’s artistry.
“Project Viva captures what McLaren Special Operations is all about—pushing beyond convention to create something truly personal. It’s where craft meets character, and where any inspiration can become a story told through design,” said Jonathan Simms, Director of MSO. “Every commission we create is a fusion of vision and skill, resulting in a car that authentically expresses the inspiration behind it.”
A Celebration of Inspiration and Craft
Project Viva is more than a supercar; it is a celebration of MSO’s capabilities, demonstrating how the division transforms creative ideas into bespoke automotive masterpieces. The car represents a meeting point between Las Vegas’ ambition, spectacle, and rhythm, and McLaren’s dedication to innovation, performance, and design excellence.
The McLaren 750S Project Viva will be on display at the McLaren Experience Centre within the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel from 13–20 November, offering fans and collectors a rare glimpse of MSO’s artistry ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
