There is just a week left for members of the Guild of Motoring Writers to enter this year’s prestigious Prodrive Motorsport Award. With a legacy of recognising outstanding contributions to motorsport, the award shines a spotlight on Guild members who have excelled either through writing or competing in motorsport at any level. This year, the award carries extra weight as Prodrive, the Banbury-based motorsport and technology specialist, celebrates its 40th anniversary in the sport.
Sponsored by Prodrive, renowned for its global influence in motorsport and advanced technology, the award offers more than just recognition. The winner will receive a trophy alongside a £500 cash prize, presented at the Guild’s annual dinner held at the iconic RAC Club in Pall Mall this December.
Last year, the honour went to Maurice Hamilton, a celebrated motorsport writer, who received the award for the third time. His compelling analysis of Ford’s return to Formula 1 earned him top marks from the judges for its insight, precision, and relevance. Prodrive Motorsport’s Business Development Manager, Richard Taylor, had the privilege of presenting Hamilton with his award.
The judges also recognised two additional Guild members: Indira Flack, for her striking motorsport photography, and Guy Loveridge, for his evocative commentary at historic racing events. Both were awarded Highly Commended distinctions, highlighting the diversity of talent within the Guild.
The Prodrive Motorsport Award is one of 14 categories in the Guild Awards this year, with numerous cash prizes and trophies up for grabs. Entries for this year’s award must be submitted by midnight on Monday, 30th September, with finalists to be announced in November. Candidates can submit up to three pieces of work, and judges will select the best entry from each submission to determine the finalists.
