Polestar, the Swedish electric performance car brand, has unveiled an exclusive ‘Arctic Circle’ collection, expanding upon the rally-inspired design first introduced with the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle in 2022. This new collection now includes bespoke versions of the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, each uniquely crafted to showcase the brand’s performance heritage. The trio is set to make their public debut at the 2025 FAT Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria, on February 1.
Michael Lohscheller, Polestar’s CEO, emphasized the significance of this collection:
“The Arctic Circle collection illustrates our unique performance DNA, rooted in motorsport and combined with Scandinavian design. We develop our cars under challenging conditions within the Arctic Circle in Sweden, and at the FAT Ice Race we will showcase that on ice there is nothing better than a Polestar. We are really excited to be part of this special event with our full model line-up, where it’s all about car culture and the performance experience.”
Under the guidance of Joakim Rydholm, Polestar’s Head of Driving Dynamics and a seasoned rally driver with over 30 years of experience, the brand has meticulously engineered these vehicles to excel in the demanding conditions of northern Sweden. Each model in the collection has been tailored to highlight distinct performance attributes, reflecting Polestar’s commitment to driving excellence.
Rydholm shared insights into the development process:
“We created something truly special when we worked on the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle, and to now apply that formula to our two new SUVs has been a fun and challenging task. We have worked closely with our leading technology partners to bring bespoke engineering solutions to these cars that emphasize our performance DNA – and make them incredibly fun to drive.”
Each vehicle in the collection has been modified to enhance its rally capabilities:
Polestar 2 Arctic Circle
- Performance: Equipped with a Long range Dual motor from the 2021 model year, delivering 350 kW and 680 Nm.
- Suspension: Custom Öhlins 3-way adjustable dampers with external gas reservoirs and a 30 mm ride height increase.
- Chassis: Enhanced with front and rear strut braces for improved rigidity.
- Wheels and Tires: Fitted with 19” OZ Racing Rally Racing wheels and specialized Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires with 250 4-mm studs for ice driving.
- Interior: Features Recaro Pole Position bucket seats.
- Additional Features: Includes a paddle-operated launch control system, drift-inspired hydraulic hand brake, Stedi Quad Pro LED front spotlights, rally-inspired mud flaps, Swedish gold tow hooks, Thule WingBar Edge roof rails with SnowPack ski mounts, and blackcrows all-terrain skis.
Polestar 3 Arctic Circle
- Performance: Based on the 2024 Long range Dual motor with Performance Pack, producing 380 kW and 910 Nm.
- Suspension: Custom Öhlins 3-way adjustable dampers with external gas reservoirs and a 40 mm ride height increase.
- Chassis: Equipped with a front strut brace.
- Wheels and Tires: Boasts the world premiere of 20” OZ Racing Rally Legend wheels paired with specialized Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires featuring 300 4-mm studs for ice driving.
- Interior: Outfitted with Recaro Pole Position bucket seats.
- Additional Features: Includes a Stedi ST4K roof light bar, rally-inspired mud flaps, Swedish gold tow hooks, Thule WingBar Edge roof rails with a custom roof basket, Fiskars SnowXpert shovel, Peli 1650EU Protector Case, and snow ladders.
Polestar 4 Arctic Circle
- Performance: Utilizes the 2024 Long range Dual motor with Performance Pack, delivering 400 kW and 686 Nm.
- Suspension: Features custom Öhlins 3-way adjustable dampers with external gas reservoirs and a 20 mm ride height increase.
- Chassis: Includes a front strut brace.
- Wheels and Tires: Showcases 20” OZ Racing Rally Legend wheels with specialized Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires equipped with 300 4-mm studs for ice driving.
- Interior: Fitted with Recaro Pole Position bucket seats.
- Additional Features: Comes with Stedi Quad Pro LED front spotlights, rally-inspired mud flaps, Swedish gold tow hooks, and specialized ski mounts with blackcrows all-terrain skis.
