Bicester, 2nd September 2024 – Polestar UK is set to redefine its presence in the British automotive market with a comprehensive strategy that combines a refined sales model with a significant expansion of its retail footprint. This development is intricately linked to the introduction of Polestar’s two new luxury electric SUVs: the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4.
Strategic Sales Model Transition
As part of its aggressive growth plan, Polestar is transitioning to a non-genuine agency sales model in the UK. This shift marks a notable departure from traditional sales approaches, reflecting Polestar’s commitment to achieving profitable growth in the coming year. By embracing this model, Polestar aims to enhance customer engagement and streamline the purchasing process. Customers will now have the flexibility to configure and order their vehicles online or visit one of the expanding network of Polestar Spaces – dedicated retail locations designed to elevate the buying experience.
Expanding the Retail Network
Currently, Polestar operates nine Spaces across the UK, a network that will grow to 17 within the next 18 months. This expansion is poised to support the launch and sales of the new Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, as well as bolster the overall presence of the brand. Matt Galvin, Managing Director of Polestar UK, emphasizes the importance of this expansion: “Expanding our retail operations with new and existing partners will enable us to reach more customers. Through these partnerships and expansion, we will capitalise on our strong brand and growing model line-up.”

Achievements and Future Goals
Since its UK debut in 2020, Polestar has delivered over 30,000 Polestar 2 electric fastbacks. This milestone underscores the brand’s rapid growth and solid market position. The forthcoming Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 are expected to further solidify Polestar’s reputation for luxury and performance in the electric vehicle segment. Globally, Polestar has delivered more than 160,000 vehicles across 27 markets and plans to expand into seven new markets in 2025, including France, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Thailand, and Brazil.
Retail Partnerships and Customer Experience
John O’Hanlon, CEO of Waylands – the retailer group managing Polestar’s Bristol Space – highlights the strategic benefits of this expansion: “The new agreement between Waylands and Polestar will allow us to enhance the engagement with existing and future Polestar customers and will help us manage the customer journey in much more detail. I am really looking forward to adopting this strategy with Polestar 3 and 4 arriving this month.”
Polestar’s dynamic approach to retail and sales reflects its commitment to growth and customer satisfaction. As the brand continues to expand its footprint and refine its sales model, it is poised to make a significant impact on the luxury electric vehicle market.
