GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN – 6 August 2025 – Polestar continues to push the boundaries of automotive design, with its latest model, the Polestar 4, receiving the Red Dot Award’s highest accolade – the “Best of the Best” in Product Design for 2025. This top-tier recognition not only celebrates the vehicle’s bold design philosophy but also reaffirms Polestar’s position as a trailblazer in the global design landscape.
In addition to this flagship honour, both the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 were also awarded the Red Dot Label in the Product Design category – a dual triumph that underscores the brand’s unwavering commitment to form and function.
Pioneering Design That Defies Convention
The Red Dot jury specifically praised the Polestar 4 for its innovative reinterpretation of SUV design language, citing its missing rear window as a bold statement that challenges traditional automotive norms. This distinctive design decision allows for a sleeker, coupé-like silhouette without compromising visibility, thanks to advanced camera technology.
Other celebrated features of the Polestar 4 include:
- Frameless side mirrors that lend the exterior a sculpted, seamless finish
- Dual-blade headlights that project a confident, futuristic identity
- Ambient lighting inspired by the solar system, reinforcing a design narrative rooted in minimalism and wonder
The jury praised the design’s balance of “technical complexity” and “simplicity and clarity,” highlighting how Polestar has masterfully unified cutting-edge technology with elegant visual restraint.

Raising the Bar Across the Board
The “Best of the Best” award is the pinnacle of the Red Dot programme, granted only to products that push the boundaries of their category. Polestar’s achievement is especially notable given the scale and prestige of the Red Dot Awards – widely regarded as one of the world’s most influential design competitions, with thousands of submissions annually across various industries.
“This recognition is a testament to the dedication and passion of the Design Team here at Polestar,” said Philipp Römers, Global Head of Design. “We are thrilled to see the work and commitment to distinctive design resonate with the jury.”
Each Red Dot entry undergoes meticulous evaluation by an international panel of experts, with judging criteria ranging from innovation and functionality to ergonomics and emotional impact.
A Legacy of Excellence
This latest win adds to Polestar’s growing portfolio of design accolades. The Polestar 2 previously earned Red Dot’s “Best of the Best” distinction, while the brand itself was named Brand of the Year in past editions. Further recognition was also awarded to its brand identity and the Polestar 2 design book, solidifying Polestar’s reputation as a design-driven brand that leads with purpose.
Redefining the Future
With each new model, Polestar continues to chart a progressive course – where sustainability, innovation, and design integrity intersect. The Polestar 4’s recognition is more than an award; it’s a signpost of the brand’s influence on the evolving aesthetic and functional language of tomorrow’s vehicles.
As the automotive world accelerates toward a future defined by electrification and advanced technology, Polestar is proving that great design is not a luxury – it’s a necessity.
