Gothenburg, Sweden – 9 April 2025 – The Polestar 3 has been awarded the prestigious five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, marking a significant milestone in the automotive brand’s commitment to safety. With an outstanding overall score of 87% in the latest round of tests conducted by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), the Polestar 3 has set a new benchmark in vehicle protection and crash avoidance technology.

The Euro NCAP, an independent organization certifying vehicle safety since 1997, evaluates vehicles across four key classifications: Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road Users, and Safety Assist. The Polestar 3 excelled in all categories, receiving top marks for its robust safety features and impressive crash protection.

A Stellar Performance in Child Occupant Protection

Of particular note in the Euro NCAP results was the Polestar 3’s performance in the Child Occupant Protection category. With a score of 93%, the Polestar 3 achieved the highest rating of any passenger car tested by Euro NCAP in the past nine years. This remarkable result reflects Polestar’s unwavering commitment to the safety of all occupants, especially children, who are among the most vulnerable in a vehicle.

Dr. Aled Williams, Programme Director at Euro NCAP, highlighted the significance of this achievement: “The Polestar 3’s performance in the Child Occupant tests is tantalisingly close to a perfect score and shows how a commitment to the safety of all occupants can pay off in providing outstanding protection in the event of an accident.” The result showcases how Polestar’s advanced engineering and focus on occupant safety have translated into exceptional crash protection.

Polestar 3 Achieves Five Star Euro Ncap Safety Rating A New Benchmark In Automotive Safety

A Comprehensive Safety Suite

The Polestar 3’s impressive five-star rating stems not only from its crash protection but also from its cutting-edge safety systems. The vehicle’s extensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) played a pivotal role in achieving a 83% score in the Safety Assist category. These systems, which include sensors, cameras, and radars housed in the innovative SmartZone on the car’s nose, provide active safety interventions such as automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, and more, all designed to prevent accidents before they happen.

Post Impact Braking and Protection and a Direct Assistance call system ensure that occupants are looked after in the event of a crash. The Driver Monitoring System (DMS), which tracks the driver’s eye and head movements, adds an additional layer of safety by detecting signs of fatigue or illness and bringing the vehicle to a controlled stop if necessary.

In addition, the Polestar 3’s 79% score for Vulnerable Road Users demonstrates its dedication to the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. The vehicle’s active safety systems, coupled with its structural integrity, are engineered to mitigate the impact on vulnerable road users in the event of a collision.

Adult Occupant Protection

The Polestar 3 also achieved an impressive 90% score for Adult Occupant Protection, underscoring its ability to safeguard those in the front and rear seats. The vehicle’s high-strength safety cage, advanced airbag technology, and impact-absorbing materials combine to offer superior protection in the event of a crash.

A Continuation of Polestar’s Commitment to Safety

The Polestar 3 follows in the footsteps of its sibling, the Polestar 2, which also received a five-star Euro NCAP rating in 2021. As the second vehicle in Polestar’s current lineup to achieve this top rating, the Polestar 3 reinforces the brand’s dedication to safety as an integral part of its performance ethos. Lutz Stiegler, Polestar’s Chief Technology Officer, emphasized: “With a shared safety DNA with Volvo Cars, there was no doubt in our minds how safe Polestar 3 is, and this five-star Euro NCAP rating simply reinforces that.”

The Polestar 3’s outstanding performance in the Euro NCAP tests serves as a testament to the brand’s commitment to delivering vehicles that not only provide an exhilarating driving experience but also ensure the highest level of safety for both the driver and those around them.

A Safe Future Ahead

With the Polestar 3 now cementing its place among the safest vehicles on the road, it exemplifies how cutting-edge safety technology and innovation can coexist with dynamic performance and sustainability. As Polestar continues to innovate, safety will remain a core pillar in the brand’s vision for a safer, more sustainable driving future.
