Since May 2024, PEUGEOT has solidified its role in advancing ocean conservation by deepening its partnership with the UNDER THE POLE underwater exploration program. This collaboration represents a shared commitment to environmental protection through innovative expeditions, scientific research, and educational outreach. PEUGEOT’s dedication to education and responsible strategies has aligned seamlessly with UNDER THE POLE’s mission to safeguard marine ecosystems.
A Partnership Rooted in Shared Values
Founded in 2008 by Ghislain Bardout and Emmanuelle Périé-Bardout in Concarneau, France, UNDER THE POLE has been at the forefront of ocean exploration. The program focuses on pioneering expeditions, supporting scientific research, and raising awareness about ocean conservation. PEUGEOT and UNDER THE POLE share a vision of leveraging science and technology to protect the marine environment, making their partnership a natural and impactful alliance.

UNDER THE POLE’s Threefold Mission
UNDER THE POLE operates through three primary missions:
Innovative Expeditions: The program organizes groundbreaking expeditions to explore the oceans, particularly in remote or polar regions. These missions aim to uncover the mysteries of marine environments and their ecological significance.
Scientific Research: The DEEPLIFE program is a key component of UNDER THE POLE’s research efforts. It focuses on studying marine animal forests in the mesophotic zone (30 to 200 meters deep) and their role in the marine ecosystem. The current mission, running until October 15, 2024, in Greece, Italy, and France, investigates whether Mediterranean mesophotic ecosystems can act as refuges against climate change.
Awareness and Education: UNDER THE POLE is dedicated to sharing knowledge about the oceans through an educational caravan that engages the public and young people. This initiative uses immersive scenography to enhance understanding and appreciation of marine ecosystems.
PEUGEOT’s Commitment as ‘Official Education Partner’
In its new role as the ‘Official Education Partner’ of UNDER THE POLE, PEUGEOT’s involvement manifests in several impactful ways:
Educational Content Creation: PEUGEOT and UNDER THE POLE are co-developing educational videos that offer insights into the expeditions, scientific programs, and exploration techniques. These videos will be featured on both PEUGEOT’s and UNDER THE POLE’s social media channels.
Educational Days: During the Mediterranean mission, PEUGEOT, with support from its Greek distributor Aiglon AE, has organized educational days for schoolchildren. Activities have included beach clean-ups, demonstrations of deep-sea diving equipment, and tours of the expedition boat, the Why. Events in Greece on April 24 and June 6 have engaged local students in hands-on learning experiences.
Joint Speeches: The partnership includes collaborative presentations at professional events across the automotive, diving, and scientific research sectors, highlighting the shared goals and achievements of both organizations.
Brand Visibility: PEUGEOT’s role as the Official Education Partner is prominently displayed on the sails and hull of the expedition boat, the Why, reinforcing its commitment to ocean conservation.
Vehicle Support: PEUGEOT is providing two BOXER vans to transport equipment and facilitate the educational caravan across France. Additionally, three 100% electric vehicles (E-208 and E-308 SW) support the Under The Pole team’s daily operations, aligning with a zero-emissions transport strategy.
A Proud Commitment to the Environment
PEUGEOT’s partnership with UNDER THE POLE reflects the brand’s commitment to environmental responsibility and educational initiatives. By supporting concrete actions that contribute to ocean conservation and education, PEUGEOT is playing a crucial role in protecting the environment and inspiring future generations.
