Barcelona’s rising star embarks on his next electric chapter with CUPRA KIRO

Milton Keynes, 21 October 2025 – CUPRA KIRO has confirmed that Spanish racing sensation Pepe Martí will join the team for the 2025/26 FIA Formula E World Championship, making his debut in the all-electric single-seater series.

At just 20 years old, Martí brings with him a formidable reputation built across Europe and Asia’s most competitive junior categories. Born in Barcelona, the young driver’s rise through the ranks has been marked by pace, precision, and an unwavering focus—traits that now see him stepping into the global spotlight with one of motorsport’s most progressive teams.

From F4 to Formula E: a meteoric rise

Martí launched his single-seater journey in 2021, finishing third in the F4 Spanish Championship before claiming runner-up honours in the Formula Regional Asian Championship. His breakthrough came in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, where he secured three victories and four podiums during his second season.

In 2024, Martí progressed to FIA Formula 2, delivering four wins and eight podiums across two seasons—firmly establishing himself as one of the sport’s brightest young prospects.

Backed by A14 Management, the driver development programme co-founded by Fernando Alonso, Martí’s path has been shaped by ambition, discipline, and performance—qualities that mirror CUPRA KIRO’s competitive spirit in Formula E.

A bold new energy for CUPRA KIRO

Martí becomes only the fifth Spanish driver to compete in Formula E, joining a select group that includes Jaime Alguersuari, Oriol Servia, Antonio Garcia, and Roberto Merhi. His addition signals CUPRA KIRO’s continued investment in next-generation talent and its commitment to challenging conventions within the evolving world of electric motorsport.

He will make his first official appearance for the team at Pre-Season Testing in Valencia next week—on home soil—before travelling to São Paulo, Brazil, for the opening round of the 2025/26 season on 6 December.

Pepe Martí, Driver, CUPRA KIRO
“I’m very excited to join CUPRA KIRO for the 2025/26 Formula E season. Obviously, it will be my first time racing in the category, and I’ll be a rookie, but nonetheless, I’m looking forward to it. The team is coming into Season 12 off the back of a win in Jakarta, and I feel very motivated to get this new chapter started. With Dan [Ticktum] as my team-mate, I’ll have a lot to learn and catch up on at the beginning of the season, but my goal is to get up to speed, improve quickly and score points and hopefully get a couple of good results.”

Leadership voices: aligned ambition

Russell O’Hagan, Chief Operating Officer, CUPRA KIRO
“Welcoming Pepe to CUPRA KIRO marks an exciting new chapter for the team. Despite being just 20 years old, Pepe has shown exceptional levels of maturity, composure, and intelligence, which, when combined with his natural speed, makes him stand out as a top talent in modern motorsport. His track record and drive align perfectly with our own goals, and together, we’re building something with long-term potential. I’m excited to see how our journey together unfolds over Season 12.”

Xavi Serra, Global Head of CUPRA Racing
“We’re really excited to have Pepe Martí joining CUPRA KIRO. He’s a bold, next-gen talent from Barcelona who shares our mindset: unconventional, driven, and ready to challenge the status quo. His journey so far has been impressive, and we’re confident that his talent will continue to shine as part of our team this season.”

A shared vision for the future

CUPRA KIRO’s decision to bring Martí into its Formula E line-up represents more than a driver signing—it’s a statement of intent. The partnership unites Spanish innovation and racing heritage with the pioneering energy of electric performance, setting the stage for an electrifying new chapter in both Martí’s career and CUPRA KIRO’s evolution in the championship.

As the team prepares to kick off Season 12, anticipation builds—not only for Martí’s debut but for what his arrival signifies: a fusion of youth, speed, and ambition driving the next era of electric racing.
