Penske Autosport is set to revolutionize its performance in the 2024 FIA ABB Formula E Championship by integrating the industry-leading Ansible Motion Delta S3 Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) simulator. This versatile, high-performance simulator is designed for hardware and software validation, circuit acclimatization, driver development, and race strategy, providing an edge in the competitive world of Formula E.
With a 360° 48K screen, a 16 square meter motion space, and a fully integrated real cockpit, the Delta S3 offers an immersive experience ideal for the limited track time available on Formula E’s temporary street circuits. The collaboration with Ansible Motion’s sister company, rFpro, enables real-time updates of track features, enhancing accuracy and performance.
The Delta S3’s advanced features include a Stratiform 3 motion base with 360° yaw capability, a large ground plane motion envelope, and a Quick-change Cabin System. This simulator not only replicates highly dynamic maneuvers with ultra-low latency but also seamlessly integrates with on-board ECUs and CAN bus networks, allowing real-time interaction with Hardware in the Loop (HIL) and Software in the Loop (SIL) systems.

Penske Autosport’s drivers, including champions Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Éric Vergne, will rely on the Delta S3 to maximize performance. The simulator’s realism, motion cues, and visual accuracy are unmatched, providing a crucial tool for both drivers and engineers.
Nicolas Mauduit, EVP at Penske Autosport, emphasizes the importance of the Delta S3, stating that its performance perspective was the only simulator that met their rigorous standards. The addition of this state-of-the-art simulator underscores Penske Autosport’s commitment to innovation and success in Formula E.
Ansible Motion’s Delta S3, widely adopted by top motorsport teams and vehicle manufacturers, offers exceptional motion fidelity for track driving and can accommodate simultaneous braking, accelerating, and turning events common in Formula E. Its quick installation and seamless integration with other tools in the AB Dynamics group provide significant technical and cost advantages.
The Delta S3 simulator, now operational, marks a significant step in Penske Autosport’s journey towards greater performance and efficiency, exemplifying their pursuit of excellence in the all-electric world championship.
