London, Monday 17th June 2024 – Osprey Charging, the UK’s foremost EV rapid charging network, has announced plans for a groundbreaking new ultra-fast charging hub in Paisley, poised to become Scotland’s largest public ultra-rapid charging facility upon completion. This strategic move follows Osprey’s acquisition of a freehold site in Paisley, with planning permission secured for the installation of 16 300kW public charge points.
Situated near Phoenix Retail Park along the A737 and a short distance from Scotland’s bustling M8 motorway, the 16-charger hub promises to offer rapid, reliable, and premium EV charging services in a pivotal location for Scottish motorists.
This acquisition marks Osprey Charging’s second venture into freehold site ownership, following the highly acclaimed Salmon’s Leap hub in Devon, operational since last year. Owning the site provides Osprey with enhanced flexibility in design, ensuring alignment with their core values of simplicity, convenience, safety, and accessibility for all users. Further site acquisitions are anticipated throughout the summer as part of Osprey’s expansive growth strategy.
The Paisley hub’s prime location offers drivers convenient access to nearby amenities, including Showcase Cinema and the McDonald’s drive-thru, ensuring a productive and enjoyable charging experience.

Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We’re thrilled to finalize the acquisition of land for our upcoming 16-charger ultra-rapid hub in Paisley, marking our second freehold site in the UK. Acquiring freehold sites is integral to our strategy, enabling us to develop larger, more versatile public charging facilities. This hub will play a pivotal role in promoting EV adoption in Scotland and meeting the escalating demand for reliable, accessible, and high-quality EV charging infrastructure across the UK.”
“In 2024 alone, we’ve successfully launched nine high-capacity hubs across diverse UK locations, and the new Paisley hub, opposite Phoenix Retail Park, represents another significant milestone in our rapid network expansion. As we progress through the year, our aim is to complete 30 hubs, a monumental achievement that will not only strengthen our network but also bolster the broader public EV charging framework.”
Osprey Charging continues to rapidly expand its network of public EV chargers, now encompassing over 1,000 rapid and ultra-rapid chargers strategically positioned in key urban and rural locations throughout the UK. With an impressive 99% reliability rate and a user-friendly charging experience, Osprey has earned recognition as a ‘Driver Recommended Network’ by Zap Map for the fourth consecutive year.
