Efficient new turbo engine for Opel Corsa

  • New 1.4 Turbo Enjoy model added to Corsa range
  • Equipped with stop-start engine technology
  • Smart upgrades and refinement of overall Corsa range keep things fresh

Opel-Corsa-27

Port Elizabeth, 18 September 2013 – General Motors South Africa has made changes to the standard specifications of the Opel Corsa range which include the addition of an all-new turbocharged 1.4 litre model. Changes to vehicle specification have been implemented to rationalise the range and improve its value offering, while the new turbo model is geared towards efficiency, increased engine performance, and a reduced environmental footprint.

Supplementing the two OPC models of the sub-compact hatchback, the Corsa range now comprises two five-door versions for a total of four models. “The refinement of the Opel Corsa range in South Africa is aimed at increasing the appeal of the Corsa nameplate with buyers looking for an efficient, safe and refined hatchback. The introduction of the new Corsa 1.4 Turbo is in line with Opel’s trend of using small, efficient turbocharged powertrains to improve efficiency without compromising on performance. We firmly believe that this engine will give the Corsa an edge when compared to smaller-engined offerings from competitors in this segment, particularly at high altitude,” says Chris Cradock, Opel Brand Manager at General Motors South Africa.

Turbocharged Efficiency

The all-new Opel Corsa 1.4 Turbo Enjoy makes its entrance with a turbocharged

1.4-litre ECOTEC® petrol engine, with a power output of 88 kW between 4 000 and 6 000 rpm, and 175 Nm of torque between 1 750 and 4 750 rpm. Aimed squarely at improved fuel efficiency and an inherently more pleasant drive, the new Corsa Turbo consumes just 5.5-litres per 100 km and enjoys lower carbon emissions of 129 g/km. Other eco-minded enhancements include start-stop engine control.

Available exclusively with Enjoy trim, the new 1.4 Corsa Turbo Enjoy features a number of standard feature highlights which add even more value to its already attractive price. These features include ABS with EBD and BAS, two airbags, air conditioning, a multi-function steering wheel, remote central locking, 16-inch alloy wheels, colour-coded detailing, a chrome-plated exhaust outlet, chrome detailing around the gear lever and a black instrument panel with translucent elements.

Supplementing these additions, the entire Corsa range now comes standard with an uprated infotainment system which now features Bluetooth integration and a USB port, along with a new graphic information display.

Model range and warranties

All models in the Opel Corsa range, including both OPC derivatives, benefit from a substantial 5-year/ 120 000 km warranty and a 3-year/ 60 000 km service plan as standard. The range is as follows:

  • Corsa 1.4 Essentia
  • Corsa 1.4 Turbo Enjoy
  • Corsa OPC
  • Corsa OPC Nürburgring Edition
