OMODA South Africa has introduced an exciting and creative social-media campaign titled #PassTheTorch, aimed at supporting local athletes competing in France at one of the world’s largest sporting events. This unique initiative not only highlights the brand’s commitment to sports and community engagement but also showcases the innovative spirit of OMODA.
The #PassTheTorch Campaign
The #PassTheTorch campaign is a dynamic online initiative involving OMODA brand ambassadors, OMODA O-CLUB friends, and influencers. The central element of the campaign is a flame-themed OMODA C5 vehicle, which has been wrapped in a striking orange-and-black design. This special edition vehicle was unveiled at OMODA’s recent “Breakfast Run” event in Gauteng, where it was part of a grand convoy of over 100 cars.
How It Works
Each participant in the campaign is assigned a specific task that they must complete. After fulfilling their challenge, they post photographs or videos on social media featuring themselves in fashionable outfits alongside the flame-themed C5. The participant then nominates another personality to take over the challenge, thus “passing the torch” to the next individual.

Kickoff and Key Participants
The campaign officially began on 26 July 2024 with Thandokazi P Mashalaba, a well-known digital content creator specializing in beauty, fashion, and lifestyle. Mashalaba was tasked with a rigorous 20-minute treadmill session while donning stylish athleisure wear. Upon completing her challenge, she passed the torch to Chantel Hoffman, a content creator and socialite who is also a proud OMODA C5 owner. Hoffman took on a 20-minute power walk at an athletics track, dressed in an outfit that matched the vehicle’s vibrant theme.
Following Hoffman, the torch will be passed to other prominent OMODA ambassadors, including Boitumelo “Boity” Thulo, TV personality Nonkanyiso “LaConco” Conco, and internet personality Mohale Motaung. Additionally, O-CLUB friends and influencers such as Palesa Dhlomo and Sphe_Music will also participate. The campaign will continue until the conclusion of the international multi-sport tournament on 11 August 2024.
OMODA’s Commitment and Future Plans
Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager for OMODA & JAECOO, expressed the brand’s enthusiasm for the campaign: “We simply couldn’t resist showing our support to the South African athletes in our own fun and fashionable way.” She added that the campaign would extend beyond the tournament, with OMODA dealers across the country set to participate in carrying the torch. “Keep your eyes peeled for this special model, which could soon be coming to a shopping mall near you,” Gahagan concluded.OMODA South Africa’s #PassTheTorch campaign is a testament to the brand’s innovative approach to supporting local athletes and engaging with the community. By blending fashion, fitness, and social media, OMODA has created a memorable campaign that resonates with both sports enthusiasts and automotive fans.
