OMODA & JAECOO are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Absa, a collaboration designed to offer South African car buyers seamless vehicle financing solutions.
In June 2024, the rapidly expanding automotive brands—collectively known as Brand O&J—entered into a vehicle-finance alliance with Absa, one of Africa’s largest and most diversified financial services groups. This collaboration led to the creation of OMODA JAECOO Finance, a product backed by Absa.
“We’re incredibly excited to unveil this partnership with Absa, a highly respected financial institution that we believe is quickly becoming the go-to bank in the automotive industry,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager for OMODA & JAECOO.
“The comprehensive financing options resulting from this partnership will make our already competitively priced vehicles even more accessible to South African customers. Fans of Brand O&J should stay tuned for exciting credit offers in the near future,” Gahagan added.
Brand O&J has already made a significant impact on the local market. In April 2023, South Africa became the first African country to welcome the OMODA brand, with the C5’s distinctive silhouette standing out in a market filled with generic crossovers. The limited-edition C5 GT was added to the lineup in November of the same year.

Looking ahead to later in 2024, the OMODA range will expand with the introduction of the highly anticipated C9 luxury flagship and the fully electric E5. The new C7 is also expected to join the lineup at a later stage.
“This partnership underscores our commitment to driving innovation and accessibility in automotive financing,” said Charl Potgieter, Managing Executive at Absa Vehicle and Asset Finance. “By partnering with OMODA & JAECOO, we are ensuring customers experience a seamless and efficient financing process, further establishing Absa as the premier bank for the automotive industry. Our goal is to help South Africans achieve their dreams of vehicle ownership with unmatched convenience and service excellence.”
In parallel, the newly established urban off-road SUV brand JAECOO launched its first model in South Africa in April 2024, with the J7 quickly capturing the market’s attention. Notably, South Africa was the first right-hand-drive market and the first on the African continent to launch the J7.
The JAECOO lineup will soon expand further. Local customers can look forward to the arrival of the J8 PHEV later in 2024, with the new J6 also planned for introduction. More details on these upcoming models will be released closer to their launch dates.
