The South African luxury SUV market is about to witness a paradigm shift with the upcoming launch of the striking new OMODA C9. This high-end SUV has already garnered significant attention on the global stage, winning a coveted Gold Award in the Automotive & Transport category at the prestigious International Design Awards (IDA). Known as the Exeed RX in certain markets, the OMODA C9’s design has captured the imagination of the industry, marking a first for Chinese automotive brands.

Founded in 2007, the IDA celebrates exceptional design across various disciplines, and its jury of renowned experts recognized the C9 for its innovative approach to automotive aesthetics. The vehicle’s fresh and bold design language is set to disrupt a segment long dominated by familiar names, with its unique proportions, sculpted bodywork, and focus on integrating advanced technology into a user-centric cabin environment.

A New Standard in Design
The OMODA C9 stands out from its competitors with a sleek, coupé-like silhouette defined by dynamic lines and a fastback-style roof that evokes a sense of movement, even at a standstill. The design team behind the C9 drew inspiration from the Golden Ratio, a principle that has guided artists and architects for centuries. This pursuit of balance and harmony is evident in every angle of the C9, from its seamless exterior to its luxuriously crafted interior.

Lighting plays a key role in the C9’s design language, both functionally and artistically. Its daytime running lights, inspired by the Greek letter “Σ,” incorporate an impressive 134 individual LED elements, delivering both performance and visual appeal. The rear is equally captivating, with artistic taillights that enhance the vehicle’s distinctive look. Inside the cabin, a 256-colour ambient lighting system allows passengers to tailor the mood to their preferences, creating a space that feels both contemporary and personal.

Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager for OMODA & JAECOO, described the C9 as “a true masterpiece of automotive design,” noting that its fusion of modern art and cutting-edge technology places it at the forefront of innovation in the luxury SUV segment. As OMODA’s flagship model, the C9 aims to redefine the expectations of South African drivers, seamlessly blending aesthetics with performance.

Omoda C9 A Game Changer In South Africas Luxury Suv Market

Design Meets Technology
The OMODA C9’s exterior design elements further underscore its attention to detail. A borderless grille with distinctive diamond-shaped elements lends the front fascia an assertive look, while the rear spoiler, flush door handles, and striking alloy wheels add to the vehicle’s sleek profile. The rear is further enhanced by a quartet of tailpipes, signaling the vehicle’s power and performance credentials.

Inside, the C9 offers an expansive and luxurious cabin, replete with top-notch materials and advanced technology. The interior’s dual-screen setup enhances the driver and passenger experience, integrating connectivity and infotainment into a cohesive system. A premium audio system provides a concert-like experience, while abundant passenger space ensures a comfortable journey for all occupants.

While full details of the C9’s extensive standard features are yet to be revealed, early indications suggest that this SUV will offer a compelling mix of technology, luxury, and practicality. OMODA’s commitment to blending form and function is clear, positioning the C9 as a formidable competitor in the luxury SUV segment.

Setting a New Benchmark
With the OMODA C9, South African motorists will soon have access to a luxury SUV that redefines expectations through a design-driven approach. As the brand’s flagship model, it represents the pinnacle of OMODA’s design philosophy, offering an exciting alternative to the traditional players in the market.

As the official launch approaches, anticipation is building for what promises to be a ground-breaking entry in the luxury SUV landscape. The OMODA C9 is more than just a vehicle—it is a statement of innovation, a testament to modern design, and a glimpse into the future of automotive excellence.
