Nissan South Africa continues its momentum in 2025 with the launch of two standout offerings: the New Model Year X-Trail and the exclusive Magnite Kuro Black Edition. These introductions mark the brand’s fourth and fifth major releases for the year, following the successful rollout of the PRO-4X Warrior, Navara Stealth variants, and the versatile Magnite Move panel van.
With over 60 years of presence in the South African market, Nissan has consistently demonstrated its commitment to local drivers, providing vehicles that combine innovation, capability, and style. The latest launches further underline the company’s ambition to deliver choice and quality across multiple segments.
“From tough double cabs to light commercial solutions and stylish compact SUVs, we’re steadily expanding the brand’s offerings to cover both lifestyle and business needs,” says Maciej Klenkiewicz, Managing Director for Nissan South Africa and Independent Markets Africa. “The New Model Year X-Trail and the limited-edition Magnite Kuro are no exception—they bring premium features, advanced technology, and practicality to everyday driving.”
Striking Style and Exclusive Appeal: The Magnite Kuro
The Nissan Magnite has quickly cemented itself as a popular choice among South Africa’s compact SUV buyers. The new Kuro Black Edition elevates the model with a bold, limited-edition aesthetic. Available in a select number of units, the Kuro replaces chrome and silver accents with black finishes across the exterior, including roof rails, skid plates, grille inserts, and alloy wheels. A distinct black Kuro badge completes the aggressive, head-turning look.
Inside, the Kuro continues the blacked-out theme with a dark roof liner, gloss-black dashboard and steering wheel inserts, black fabric trims, synthetic-leather seats, and a wireless charging pad.
Performance is handled by Nissan’s 1.0-litre turbocharged HRA0 engine paired with an X-Tronic CVT, delivering smooth power delivery and confident acceleration, perfect for city commuting. Practicality and safety remain paramount, with features such as a tight 5-metre turning radius, hill start assist, cruise control, LED headlamps, and ABS with EBD plus vehicle dynamic control. Notably, the Magnite range is South Africa’s first car to achieve a 5-star Global NCAP rating for adult occupants under the latest protocols, reaffirming its safety credentials.

Versatility and Comfort: The New X-Trail
The New Model Year Nissan X-Trail continues to build on its reputation as a family-friendly SUV capable of tackling both city streets and rugged terrain. With a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 135 kW and 244 Nm, paired with a CVT transmission, the X-Trail delivers responsive performance and smooth handling. Its 211 mm ground clearance and 2,000 kg braked towing capacity make it as capable on long weekend adventures as it is on urban commutes.
The new model introduces enhanced convenience features, including a wireless charging pad and approach unlock/walk-away lock functionality, complementing its family-focused design and advanced technology. Visia and Acenta grades come with an 8-inch touchscreen and five-seat configuration with 585ℓ luggage space, while the Acenta Plus boasts a 12.3-inch A-IVI touchscreen, heads-up display, terrain mode, and a seven-seat layout for larger families.
“The X-Trail provides South African families with a premium SUV option, combining technology, comfort, and capability,” adds Klenkiewicz. “Paired with the city-ready Magnite Kuro, Nissan continues to offer a well-rounded SUV lineup that meets the diverse needs of our customers.”
Strengthening Nissan’s Local Presence
These launches form part of Nissan South Africa’s broader strategy to provide versatile, safe, and stylish vehicles across every major segment. From the toughness of the Navara, the practicality of the Magnite Move panel van, to the premium comfort of the X-Trail, the brand demonstrates a clear focus on innovation, safety, and customer-centric design.
“With the New Model Year X-Trail and Magnite Kuro, Nissan is delivering more choice and premium options than ever before, ensuring that South African drivers can enjoy vehicles that suit both lifestyle and business needs,” concludes Klenkiewicz.
Nissan South Africa’s continued investment in new models and exclusive editions underscores its dedication to providing vehicles that excite, perform, and protect—reaffirming its role as a key player in the local automotive industry.
