11 July 2025 | South Africa – Nissan has reignited its presence in the fiercely competitive African bakkie segment with the return of a legend: the Navara Stealth. After a six-year absence, the newly reimagined double-cab is back with a vengeance—leaner, meaner, and meticulously engineered for life on and off the road.

Built at Nissan’s Rosslyn plant in Gauteng and protected by a six-year/150,000 km warranty, the Navara Stealth is now available across South Africa from R695,200. Purpose-built for the continent’s demanding terrain—from gridlocked city commutes to uncharted bush trails—the Stealth confidently reclaims its position between the Navara LE and the flagship PRO-4X.

Back with a Bolder Attitude

The new Stealth made its official debut in Magaliesberg during an exclusive three-day launch event attended by over 120 motoring journalists, content creators, Nissan employees, and brand partners. The reveal wasn’t just a show of strength—it was a clear signal that Nissan intends to lead, not follow.

For Nissan, the Stealth’s revival is a strategic move—one that combines the Navara’s well-earned reputation for toughness with a dramatic design evolution and finely tuned performance enhancements.

“Despite its name, the Stealth isn’t subtle or quiet by any means,” says Maciej Klenkiewicz, Country Director for Nissan South Africa and Independent Markets Africa (IMA).
“A Stealth driver values power, precision, and presence. This isn’t just a bakkie—it’s a statement.”

Gone is the chrome. In its place: matte and gloss black accents that redefine the Navara’s familiar silhouette. Deep black finishes adorn the grille, roof rails, side steps, mirror caps, door handles, and tailgate signature. The aggressive stance is amplified by a nudge bar, sports bar, and 17-inch blacked-out alloys.

Inside, the Stealth’s personality is just as assertive. Black leather-trimmed seats, door panels, and armrests create a cohesive, premium aesthetic. Comfort and convenience come standard, with a configurable touchscreen infotainment system featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six speakers, and dual USB-C ports in the front and rear for quick device charging.

Capability Refined for Africa

What sets the Stealth apart isn’t just its aesthetic—it’s how it drives. Beneath its muscular body lies a 2.5-litre DDTi turbo diesel engine producing 140 kW and 450 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth seven-speed automatic transmission. Torque peaks at 2,000 rpm for confident hill climbs, while the engine’s 80-litre tank promises serious range for those longer hauls across the Karoo.

Thanks to a class-leading five-link rear suspension with coil springs—standard on the Stealth—ride quality is notably superior to competitors still relying on leaf springs. Recalibrated dampers offer faster rebound recovery, translating to greater stability and comfort whether navigating urban potholes or corrugated gravel.

Assembled in SA, Designed for Africa

The Stealth isn’t just made in South Africa—it’s made for Africa. Its production in Rosslyn reaffirms Nissan’s commitment to local manufacturing and to the continent’s unique motoring demands.

“The Navara Stealth again demonstrates Nissan’s long-term dedication to the African market,” says Jordi Vila, President of Nissan Africa.
“Africa is a bakkie-first continent, and customers demand vehicles that are both stylish and resilient. The Stealth delivers on both fronts.”

The Rosslyn plant’s ability to rapidly switch between Navara variants ensures responsive supply without compromising efficiency, while opening doors to export opportunities across West and East Africa. The Stealth joins a growing line-up of Africa-focused models, including the PRO-4X, Warrior, and recently launched offerings in Egypt and Morocco.

Final Word

The all-new Nissan Navara Stealth isn’t simply a refreshed model—it’s a reinvention. A response to the evolving expectations of Africa’s bakkie buyers, it merges form and function in a package that feels both familiar and exhilaratingly new.

For those who want rugged utility without sacrificing refinement, the Stealth delivers. Whether it’s weekday business, weekend adventure, or Sunday showmanship, the Navara Stealth stands ready—bold, capable, and unmistakably confident.
