London, UK – 9 August 2025 – Nissan has confirmed that two of its flagship electric models, the all-new Nissan Micra and the award-winning Nissan Ariya, now qualify for the UK Government’s recently introduced Electric Car Grant. Announced in July 2025, the scheme offers a £1,500 saving on eligible EVs, designed to accelerate the transition to cleaner transport and make electric mobility more attainable for UK drivers.

A New Era for the Nissan Micra

Now in its sixth generation, the 100% electric Micra benefits immediately from the government’s £1,500 incentive, bringing its entry price down to just £21,495. With a WLTP range of up to 260 miles and equipped with Google Built-in and NissanConnect Services, the Micra blends affordability, digital convenience, and everyday usability.

A compact city car with over six million units sold globally, the latest Micra marks a decisive move in Nissan’s electrification strategy. Customers will be able to choose from a range of grades and battery options:

Ariya Joins the Grant List

From Wednesday 13 August, when revised range pricing is revealed, the Nissan Ariya will also qualify for the £1,500 Electric Car Grant. Known for its striking design, spacious cabin, and advanced EV technology, Ariya embodies Nissan’s philosophy of delivering zero-emission performance without sacrificing refinement or practicality.

LEAF on the Horizon

Later this year, the third-generation, British-built Nissan LEAF will join the line-up, with expectations that it will secure the highest-tier grant of £3,750. Pricing will be confirmed closer to launch, but the new LEAF is set to continue its legacy as a pioneer in mainstream EV adoption. Production of both the car and its battery will take place in Sunderland, further reinforcing Nissan’s UK manufacturing footprint.

A Growing Electric Line-Up

James Taylor, Managing Director of Nissan GB, expressed his enthusiasm:

“With the grant confirmed today, we are thrilled to see Micra and Ariya becoming even better value for our customers. Micra will now start at a highly competitive £21,495 and will be available to order from next month. This will be joined by three new models including the third generation British-built LEAF later this year and the Juke in 2026, also coming from our Sunderland plant. We can’t wait to see the reactions of UK customers as they get to experience these exciting fully electric new cars.”

With the UK Government’s new Electric Car Grant now in effect, Nissan’s growing EV portfolio offers drivers more choice than ever before—combining cutting-edge technology, zero-emission driving, and competitive pricing to help steer the nation towards a more sustainable motoring future.
