Johannesburg, 3 March 2025 – Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has officially announced the pricing for the all-new Volkswagen Crafter 50 range, following its much-anticipated South African premiere at the Volkswagen Group Africa Indaba in early February 2025.

Designed to meet the rigorous demands of commercial operators, the new Crafter 50 offers exceptional payload capacity, modernised technology, and enhanced driving comfort. Available in an Extra-Long Wheelbase configuration (measuring 4,490 mm in length) with rear-wheel drive, the model comes with a choice of either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox. With a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 5 tonnes, it provides flexibility for various transport applications. Customers can opt for either a standard high roof or a super high roof, maximising cargo-carrying potential.

Refined Design, Enhanced Practicality

Drawing inspiration from the sixth-generation Transporter, the new Crafter balances contemporary styling with robust functionality. Its generous cargo volume reaches up to 17.5 m³, with a maximum cargo space height of 2,096 mm, ensuring ample room for bulky loads.

Under the hood, the new Crafter is powered by a 2.0-litre BiTDI engine producing 120 kW, paired with Volkswagen’s 8-speed automatic transmission for the first time in this range. The combination of power and efficiency makes it well-suited for long-haul and heavy-duty applications.
