The value-added newcomer was conceptualised to provide young families, lifestyle motorists and anyone seeking the space and practicality of an MPV with a sassy, vibrant and agile motoring experience.

The Honda Mobilio comes standard with dual front airbags, and ABS anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution. The new MPV benefits from Honda’s ACE (Advanced Compatibility Engineering) body construction, which means that impact forces are managed to prevent intrusion into the rigidly protected passenger safety cell.
Safety is an integral part of the Honda Mobilio’s cabin design. All seating positions are fitted with inertia reel seatbelts, except of the middle seat in the second row, which is equipped with a lap belt. Adjustable headrests are provided for all seats.
A high level of safety
The convenience of the Honda Mobilio’s cabin extends to the provision of cup holders and various storage binnacles front and rear.
Even with both rear seat rows in use, the luggage compartment will carry 223 litres of luggage, while folding the third seating row flat increases cargo capacity to 521 litres, to window height. Of course, with both seating rows folded flat, long and awkwardly shaped items are easily accommodated.
The backrests of both the second and third seat rows can be folded flat, while the entire seat can be tumbled forward, allowing for an almost infinite combination of seating and cargo space.
But the real surprise is the third seating row. It’s split 50/50, and unlike many third-row designs, the Honda Mobilio provides two full seating positions, with legroom, headroom and shoulder room that’s more than adequate. Access is convenient, thanks to a large door aperture, and the one-touch slide and fold action of the second-row seat.
Practical, versatile seating and stowage
The second seating row, split 60/40, looks and feels wide and comfortable, and easily accommodates three occupants. The seat can slide fore and aft, while the back rests can be reclined. Leg and shoulder room are generous, and the high roofline further enhances passenger comfort.
The ergonomics ensure a driver-friendly environment, with an analogue instrument binnacle positioned directly ahead of the driver. The large, easily legible dials are neatly framed by the three-spoke steering wheel.
Despite the compact exterior, the Honda Mobilio’s 2 645 mm wheelbase suggests a cabin that is much more generously proportioned than expected. Key design elements include a light and airy interior execution, with smart black fabric and a two-tone treatment.
Honda’s approach to the interior design of the Honda Mobilio centres around the concept of ‘Man Maximum, Machine Minimum’. It recognises the need for a sense of quality reflected by every element of the interior design, with space and comfort the ultimate objectives.
Cabin layout and design
A large tailgate extends down to the bumper, making access to the luggage compartment easy and convenient. The large tailgate clusters add further distinction to a design that is clearly, proudly Honda.
A pronounced D-pillar adds visual strength to the design, while a rear roof spoiler adds a sporty touch to the Honda Mobilio’s dynamic, fun-to-drive character.
In profile, it’s Honda’s “lighting bolt” belt-line that attracts attention, together with the sculpted character lines that stretch from front to rear. The “lightning bolt” line drops down from the centre pillar, improving visibility from the second and third-row seating positions.
At 4 385 mm long, 1 683 mm wide and 1 621 mm tall, the Honda Mobilio looks solid and dynamic. The front view instantly confirms the Honda Mobilio as a member of the Honda family. Bold headlight clusters frame a prominent grille linking a broad metallic centrepiece and a bold Honda badge to upper and lower air intakes. A colour-coded, integrated bumper adds to the overall visual integration of the front-end treatment.
The overall shape has been kept as compact as possible to ensure easy manoeuvrability in tight spaces or urban traffic. At the same time, the tall roofline, and relatively extended wheelbase create an interior that is much more spacious than the exterior dimensions suggest.
The exterior design of the Honda Mobilio expresses a combination of sleek aerodynamics, and compact dimensions. Generous glass areas ensure good visibility and create an airy interior, while powerful character lines along the sides, and a tapered roofline add dynamic interest.
