- Strong turnout predicted for NAMPO
- Ford to showcase extensive line-up

PRETORIA, South Africa 8 May 2013 – Grain SA’s NAMPO Harvest Day Show, the largest agricultural show in the southern hemisphere will take place at NAMPO Park in the Free State from 14 – 17 May. The event is the highlight of the year for the agricultural community with over 70 000 visitors having made their way through the grounds last year. This year’s show is likely to attract even more enthusiastic show-goers.
Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) will once again showcase its products and be on hand to interact with the public. The unique show attracts thousands of visitors and has become a significant event on Ford’s calendar.
“NAMPO provides a unique opportunity for us to interact with the farming community, a community that is very important to Ford,” says Ford Marketing Manager, Gavin Golightly. “While the commercial vehicles will be the prime focus we will be showing many of our passenger cars too as we seek to cater to the diverse needs of this community.”
On the passenger car front Ford will display its Figo, Focus ST and the newly introduced Kuga and Tourneo Custom. Also on display will be future models including the Fiesta ST, which will be officially launched at the end of May and the EcoSport, which will make its South African debut later in the year.
Of particular interest will be Ford’s commercial vehicle line-up. A selection of Ranger models will be displayed in all-three body configurations – Single Cab, Super Cab and Double Cab. The Ranger 3.2l Double Cab XLT made motoring history by becoming the first ever pick-up to achieve a maximum 5 Star rating under the Euro NCAP crash test protocol, a feat sure to generate considerable interest from potential buyers.
The public can also catch a glimpse of the Ranger Odyssey Edition. The Ranger Odyssey is a unique expedition that will see ten challengers taking on Africa’s most extreme terrains as they travel through six countries on their journey from Kenya to South Africa later this year.
The new Transit Custom is also sure to attract plenty of attention at this year’s show. Representing a completely new generation of Ford one-tonne vehicles in South Africa, the Transit Custom marks an important step in Ford’s commitment to expanding its presence in the commercial vehicle sector.
With its bold new design, car-like interior and outstanding driving dynamics, the Transit Custom will appeal to a broad range of professionals, skilled tradesmen and small businesses.
“The Transit Custom is a welcome introduction to the South African market. It has proven to be a firm favourite with small business owners and professionals in Europe for many years and we expect it will be a popular attraction at this year’s show,” adds Golightly.
