Motorpoint – the UK’s largest independent retailer of nearly new cars and vans – has officially opened the doors of its 20th store in Ipswich.

The new store, located on West End Road, just across the river from Portman Road Stadium, gives drivers in the Suffolk region and wider East Anglian area their first taste of Motorpoint’s commitment to unbeatable prices.

Simon Castle, Motorpoint Ipswich’s General Sales Manager, said: “After months of hard work and preparation we are absolutely thrilled to have finally opened the doors of our fantastic new Motorpoint store and to become the 20th site in the Motorpoint network.”

Motorpoint’s Sales and Service Manager, Dean Vinyard, added: “I am super enthusiastic and equally excited to be part of the leadership team for this incredible new Motorpoint store. Motorpoint Ipswich is THE best place to buy a nearly new car and it is great to be part of the Motorpoint team and a retailer that is marking its 25th birthday this year. Our Price Promise ensures we can always provide unbeatable prices and if our customers find the car they want in our online store we can arrange for delivery to the Ipswich site or deliver it straight to our customer’s front door.”

It took just minutes of the doors opening for the new team to clock-up their first sale, with Karen James from Ipswich part exchanging her old Ford which she’d had for seven years for a 2019 Ford Eco Sport.

Karen said: “I am absolutely delighted with my new car. I’d been looking for a low mileage nearly new replacement for my old Ford and had been searching for some time, but with no luck. I had seen that the new Motorpoint store had opened and so dropped in on opening day and was delighted to find my perfect car so quickly and easily. The staff were great and made the entire process of part exchanging really smooth – and of course the chocolate and flowers were a lovely extra touch on the day.”

The stylish new store has space for up to 120 cars from up to 30 manufacturers. There is a wide range of makes and models to choose from in-store and online with vehicles to suit all budgets, lifestyles and driving needs for car buyers in the East of England region.

As part of the store’s opening activity Motorpoint donated funds to St Elizabeth Hospice giving a £1000 boost to support the charity as well as sponsoring the charity’s Midnight Walk 2023 which took place on Saturday May 20th.

Liz Baldwin, Corporate and Sponsorship Fundraising Manager said: “We are really happy that the new team at Motorpoint Ipswich has selected us as their store’s chosen charity. With their help, we aim to improve life for people living with progressive illnesses throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney. This £1000 donation along with the additional £1000 support Motorpoint has provided in support of our annual Midnight Walk event ensures that we can continue to support over 3,185 patients and their families every year, ranging from 14 years old and upwards and demand for our care is constantly growing.

“As we need to generate over 70% of our funding ourselves, we rely on the generosity of local businesses like Motorpoint to enable us to continue to provide our care free of charge to patients and their families in your community, today, tomorrow and for years to come. “

In June there will also be a VIP store visit from the new Mayor of Ipswich, Lynne Mortimer, accompanied by her Consort, and husband, Mr James Hayward who will perform an official blue ribbon cutting ceremony.”

The Ipswich store opening strengthens Motorpoint’s footprint in the East of England, where it already has its Motorpoint Peterborough store and preparation centre.

The opening of the new store has already created around 30 new jobs, across the business including sales, preparation and technical roles.
