Leamington Spa, 10 April, 2025: MOKE International, the iconic British car manufacturer, has officially opened its new, wholly owned manufacturing facility in the heart of the UK’s automotive valley, Leamington Spa. This significant milestone marks a new chapter in MOKE’s 60-year legacy, positioning the company at the forefront of the electric vehicle (EV) revolution and reinforcing its commitment to British engineering and craftsmanship.
The new facility not only enhances production efficiency but also demonstrates MOKE’s strategic response to the growing global demand for its Electric MOKE, a model that has gained notable international acclaim. With an ambitious target of over 500 units to be produced this year alone, MOKE continues to strengthen its position as a leading net exporter, proudly contributing to the UK economy.
The opening of this state-of-the-art production facility also signals a new era for MOKE in terms of job creation, sustainability, and innovation. Dozens of new clean-tech jobs have been created, and the company’s workforce has tripled to meet the demands of an ever-expanding market. With plans for apprenticeship and graduate schemes already in place, MOKE is firmly invested in nurturing the next generation of EV technicians, ensuring that the workforce is as forward-thinking and sustainable as the products they create.
To celebrate the launch, MOKE International hosted an exclusive event earlier this month, where retail partners from France, Spain, and the USA gathered to witness the company’s exciting developments firsthand. Local dignitaries, including Matt Western, MP for Warwick and Leamington, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Electric Vehicles (APPG), were also in attendance, highlighting the significance of the occasion for the region and the broader automotive industry. This gathering not only marked the opening of the new facility but also celebrated MOKE’s growing international footprint and its place at the forefront of clean-tech innovation.

Nick English, Executive Chairman of MOKE International, expressed his enthusiasm for the future of the brand: “It’s great to be bringing back production to the UK, and indeed the car manufacturing heartland in the Midlands, where the MOKE was originally designed by Sir Alec Issigonis. As we now celebrate 60 years of MOKE, we are thrilled to be marking such an exciting chapter, enhancing our craftsmanship and innovation while laying the foundation for future success.”
The event also showcased MOKE’s latest innovation in design, with a new range of colourway options for the Electric MOKE’s body, Bimini, and wheels. These updates provide customers with even more ways to personalise their vehicles, ensuring that sustainability, style, and innovation remain at the forefront of MOKE’s offerings.
Matt Western, MP for Warwick and Leamington, praised MOKE’s expansion and the creation of new jobs in the EV sector: “I was delighted to visit MOKE International in Leamington earlier this month and see first-hand the innovation that has and continues to go into the Electric MOKE. It is excellent to see the creation of new jobs in the EV sector, which will continue to grow, and hear of the company’s commitment to working with local suppliers in the production of the vehicles. I am looking forward to seeing MOKE International continue to grow and succeed, and am confident that Leamington Spa will provide an ideal home for this growth and success.”
The opening of the new facility also underscores MOKE’s commitment to long-term sustainability. Approximately 70 percent of the Electric MOKE’s components are sourced from Europe, positioning the brand as one of the few independently owned manufacturers to achieve such a high level of local sourcing. This dedication to sustainability is complemented by MOKE’s ongoing focus on safety, compliance, and regulatory standards. The Electric MOKE has already achieved M1 Small Series Approval, EPA Certification, and CARB approval, marking a historic achievement as the first EV from a low-volume manufacturer to receive such recognition. These certifications enable MOKE to sell its Electric MOKE in all 50 US states, expanding the brand’s global reach and solidifying its position as a leader in the EV space.
In addition to these achievements, MOKE International has been invited to join Walpole, the prestigious governing body for the UK’s luxury goods sector. This invitation is a testament to MOKE’s dedication to British craftsmanship and its growing reputation as a maker of premium, environmentally conscious vehicles.
As MOKE International continues to innovate and expand, its Leamington Spa facility will play a crucial role in supporting the company’s vision for the future. With a strong foundation of British engineering, a commitment to sustainability, and an eye on the next generation of EV technicians, MOKE is poised to lead the charge in the evolving electric vehicle market.
