In a bold response to urban mobility challenges, Mobilize, Renault Group’s mobility brand, has launched two all-electric quadricycles, Duo and Bento. Purpose-built for navigating busy urban environments, Duo is a compact, two-seat vehicle while Bento serves as its versatile utility counterpart, equipped with a spacious 649-litre cargo box. These electric vehicles promise not only convenience and adaptability but also sustainability—both are crafted with eco-responsibility in mind and a simplified design that reflects Renault’s commitment to a greener future.

Compact, Safe, and Agile: Made for the Urban Environment
Duo and Bento are built to excel in city traffic, with both vehicles sharing a compact footprint of just 2.43 meters in length and 1.3 meters in width. Designed for optimal maneuverability, they offer a central driving position and a nimble 6.8-meter turning circle, making quick navigation through congested streets and tight parking spaces a breeze.

Safety is a priority, with Duo and Bento boasting the first driver’s airbag in the quadricycle segment. Additional features include seat belts with force limiters, ensuring passengers are well-protected. For drivers seeking extra comfort, Duo also includes a heated driver’s seat, a heated windscreen, and air conditioning—features that are rare among vehicles of its size and class.

Efficient Electric Performance
Powered by a 48V electric motor adapted from the Renault Austral’s mild-hybrid system, Duo and Bento deliver strong acceleration tailored for urban driving. Both models utilize a 10.3kWh single-module NMC battery, borrowed from the forthcoming Renault 5 E-Tech electric, which allows Duo to achieve an impressive range of up to 100 miles on a single charge (87 miles for Bento) according to the WMTC standard. This range is more than adequate for daily urban commutes and delivery routes.

Charging is made simple with a Type 2 connection, standard in the UK, ensuring the vehicles are ready for service with minimal downtime.

Sustainability at the Core
Mobilize places sustainability at the forefront with Duo and Bento, which feature over 40% recycled materials by weight. This environmentally conscious approach extends throughout the vehicles’ lifecycles. At the end of their service lives, both models are at least 95% recyclable, reducing their long-term impact on the environment.

In addition, Mobilize has adopted a streamlined design philosophy for Duo and Bento. With a limited parts count, these quadricycles use identical front and rear bumpers, interchangeable rocker panels, and overall contain five times fewer parts than a conventional car. The unpainted black plastic bodywork is crafted to withstand everyday wear and tear, while vertical ‘gullwing’ doors enable easy entry and exit in tight spaces, regardless of which side is accessible.

Tech-Forward Design and Connectivity
The Duo and Bento are designed with intuitive connectivity in mind. Each model integrates with the MyDuo app, which enables features like keyless entry and remote access. For the first time in a Renault Group vehicle, up to six digital keys can be shared via the app, simplifying car-sharing among multiple users. Additional features include a USB-C port, a phone holder, and optional Bluetooth connectivity, making it easy for drivers to stay connected while on the move.

A strikingly unique design touch is the dashboard, inspired by 1980s boomboxes, with customizable decals to match the exterior. This retro look combines with modern convenience, as the cabin includes 300 litres of storage space. The TEP fabric upholstery is not only durable but also easy to clean, with a drainage plug under the pedals allowing for a quick rinse when needed.

Models Tailored for Individual and Business Needs
Mobilize has crafted distinct versions of Duo and Bento to cater to different urban mobility demands:

  • Duo 80 Evo: Built for private users, this model is fun to drive, reaching a maximum speed of 80 kph (50 mph) and delivering a full 100-mile range. Key features include heated driver’s seat, heated windscreen, and premium comfort seats.
  • Duo 80 Pro: Aimed at shared mobility operators, Duo 80 Pro offers enhanced fleet management capabilities, including Smart Sharing, Geofencing, and Battery Charge Inhibition for controlled charging. Its flexibility makes it an attractive option for businesses looking to integrate electric mobility into their fleets.
  • Bento 80: This version of Duo transforms into a compact utility vehicle with its adaptable cargo box, ideal for urban deliveries. Designed for easy customization, Bento offers a practical solution for small businesses and city couriers.

Expected UK Launch and Pricing
Mobilize plans to launch Duo and Bento in the UK by early spring, with orders anticipated to open then, and sales commencing by summer. While final pricing has yet to be confirmed, Duo and Bento are expected to start at around £9,300, with top models priced up to £9,999.

The Future of City Mobility
With Duo and Bento, Mobilize is setting a new standard for eco-friendly, agile, and user-friendly urban transportation. Designed with both individual drivers and businesses in mind, these quadricycles are positioned to redefine city travel, combining convenience, sustainability, and modern technology in a compact form. The Duo and Bento exemplify Mobilize’s vision of smart, shared, and sustainable mobility solutions tailored for tomorrow’s cities.
