At the Paris Motor Show 2024, MINI has made a bold leap into the electric future with the unveiling of its first fully electric John Cooper Works (JCW) models: the MINI John Cooper Works Electric and the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman. Building on the success of the MINI Cooper Electric and MINI Aceman launched earlier this year, these new JCW variants marry the brand’s storied performance heritage with cutting-edge electric technology, heralding a new era for driving enthusiasts.

Performance and Specifications
Both the MINI John Cooper Works Electric and MINI John Cooper Works Aceman are equipped with a robust 54.2 kWh battery that delivers an impressive 258 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque. This power enables the MINI John Cooper Works Electric to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.9 seconds, while the Aceman completes the sprint in 6.4 seconds. Both models boast a top speed of 124 mph, ensuring thrilling performance reminiscent of their petrol-powered predecessors.

Pricing for these innovative models starts at £38,420 for the MINI John Cooper Works Electric and £40,220 for the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman. Orders will be accepted at retailers later this month, with first deliveries scheduled for April 2025.

A Legacy of Performance
The JCW badge has long been synonymous with motorsport success, dating back over six decades to the sportier version of the classic Mini designed by John Cooper. This legacy continues to resonate, particularly with three Monte Carlo Rally victories in the 1960s. Today, the John Cooper Works brand remains committed to translating that racing DNA into contemporary MINI models.

Stefan Richmann, Head of MINI, stated, “With the new all-electric MINI John Cooper Works models, we are bringing the legendary performance and driving dynamics of MINI into a completely new era. We are combining the tradition and character of the MINI brand with the latest technology to create a unique driving experience that will thrill our customers.”

Enhanced Driving Dynamics
Both models feature an all-new electric boost function that enhances power delivery by providing an additional 20 kW of electric motor power when the John Cooper Works mode is activated via a rocker switch on the steering wheel. This innovation ensures that drivers experience the thrill of instant torque, a hallmark of electric vehicles, while retaining the nimbleness and handling that MINI is renowned for.

The JCW-specific suspension and high-performance grip tyres further optimise the vehicle’s agility, enhancing the signature go-kart handling that MINI drivers cherish.

Striking Design Elements
The design of the new John Cooper Works variants retains the sporty aesthetic of the standard models while incorporating more aggressive styling cues. The iconic red, white, and black JCW logo pays homage to the brand’s motorsport roots. Features such as black side skirts, aeroblades, and a rear spoiler improve aerodynamics, while exclusive wheel designs in black with red accents add a touch of flair.

The interior of the new models carries the racing-inspired theme forward with a black and red colour scheme. The dashboard features a knitted pattern, while the driver and front passenger seats are upholstered in black synthetic leather with colourful knitted fabric and red accents. A 24cm circular OLED display serves as the command center, providing all vehicle data and entertainment options, and the MINI Experience Modes allow drivers to personalise their cabin ambience.

Advanced Technology and Convenience
The MINI John Cooper Works Electric and MINI John Cooper Works Aceman come equipped with 12 ultrasonic sensors and four Surround View cameras for enhanced parking assistance. The Remote Parking function enables the vehicles to park themselves using a smartphone, a testament to the seamless integration of advanced technology.

Additionally, the MINI Digital Key Plus allows users to unlock and start their vehicles using their smartphones. The intelligent key system also supports multiple users, enhancing convenience for families or shared ownership.

Drivers can also take advantage of augmented reality features in the optional MINI Navigation AR package, which visualises complex driving situations on the central display, and the Driving Assistant Plus system provides steering and lane assistance for added safety.

Efficient Charging Solutions
Charging the MINI John Cooper Works models is quick and convenient, with support for 11 kW AC and up to 95 kW DC charging. This means that at a fast-charging station, drivers can charge their vehicles from 10 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes. The MINI Navigation system optimises battery temperature for efficient charging, and customers can schedule charging times and set departure-related battery capacities via the MINI app.

The introduction of the fully electric John Cooper Works models marks a significant milestone for MINI, combining the brand’s rich heritage with the demands of modern electric mobility. With exhilarating performance, advanced technology, and a commitment to sustainability, the MINI John Cooper Works Electric and MINI John Cooper Works Aceman are poised to attract a new generation of driving enthusiasts while maintaining the spirited essence that has defined the brand for decades. As these models prepare to hit the roads, MINI is not just entering the electric vehicle market; it is revolutionising it.
