Johannesburg, 20 January 2026 – The Automobile Association of South Africa (AASA) has announced the appointment of Minesh Bhagaloo as its new Head of Public Relations and Advocacy, effective 19 January 2026. Bhagaloo brings more than two decades of experience spanning journalism and communications, positioning him to drive the AASA’s mission of safer roads, vehicles, and mobility across South Africa.
Bhagaloo holds an Honours degree in Journalism and Media Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand and spent nearly a decade as a senior journalist with the Independent Media Group’s national motoring titles. He later transitioned to the automotive industry, leading Product Communications at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa before serving as Communications Director at Ford South Africa. In these roles, he oversaw critical Product, Corporate, and CSR milestones, building a reputation for strategic storytelling and industry insight.
“They say the only constant is change. Joining the Automobile Association of South Africa presents an opportunity to merge a variety of skills acquired over the years,” says Bhagaloo. “The AASA is in an invigorating phase, with innovation and growth at its core. Our goal is to bring this to life for South African motorists through a broader mobility and advocacy journey.”
Bobby Ramagwede, CEO of the AASA, welcomed Bhagaloo, saying, “We are thrilled to have Minesh join the AASA family. His extensive experience is perfectly aligned with our vision as we enter the next chapter of nearly a century of consumer and road-safety advocacy. With a refreshed brand and value proposition, we are ready to take South Africans along on this dynamic journey.”
