Michelin has unveiled its latest tyre innovations, the MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy and MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 energy, engineered to meet the demands of modern mobility across all vehicle types. These new ranges combine high performance, longevity, and energy efficiency, catering to internal combustion engines, hybrids, and fully electric vehicles alike.
The MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy sets a new benchmark with its Triple A rating for efficiency, wet grip, and noise, while delivering up to 70 km of extra driving range for electric vehicles. It also reduces fuel consumption by up to 6 percent, saving drivers up to £147 and cutting CO₂ emissions. Its Energy Passive 2.0 Technology, featuring functionalised elastomers, new resins, and optimised architecture, ensures the best mileage in its European segment, outperforming competitors by up to 40 percent in comparable conditions. The tyre also delivers exceptional braking performance, up to 8% shorter than its predecessor even when worn, and provides a quieter driving experience thanks to its A-rated external rolling noise.
For drivers seeking sportier performance without compromising efficiency, the MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 energy delivers motorsport-derived precision, superior grip, and sustained endurance at speeds up to 300 km/h. Its Dynamic Response Technology and Adaptive Grip Compound ensure precise handling in both wet and dry conditions. Longevity is enhanced through MaxTouch® Technology, optimising the contact patch and reducing rolling resistance with Energy Passive compounds. Proven under extreme conditions, including the MERCEDES AMG GT CONCEPT XX world record test, the tyre demonstrates remarkable durability and energy efficiency.
Both ranges are already approved by leading automotive manufacturers, reflecting Michelin’s commitment to innovation and the transition toward electrified vehicles. Jean-Claude Pats, Michelin’s Automobile and Two-Wheel Business Line Director, highlighted that these tyres represent a new era in mobility, delivering performance, safety, durability, and efficiency without compromise. With summer tyres making up around 80% of global annual tyre sales, the launch of these energy-focused ranges underscores the company’s dedication to meeting evolving driver needs.
The MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy is available in 33 sizes from 16 to 19 inches, while the MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 energy comes in 19 sizes from 19 to 21 inches, offering solutions for a wide spectrum of vehicles and driving styles.
