MG Motor UK has marked a major milestone in its growth journey, recording its strongest-ever start to the year with 24,641 customer deliveries in the first quarter of 2025. This impressive achievement represents a 6.5 percent increase in registrations compared to the same period in 2024, with March particularly standing out, witnessing a notable surge in sales, including a remarkable 91.8 percent uplift in private customer deliveries.
At the heart of this success is the highly popular MG ZS SUV, which has become a key driver in the brand’s growth. The ZS secured 9,041 registrations in Q1 2025, earning its place as the UK’s ninth best-selling car. More notably, the ZS Hybrid+ model, introduced in the second half of 2024, has proven to be a hit in the hybrid market, claiming the title of the UK’s top-selling hybrid vehicle during the opening months of 2025. The ZS Hybrid+ continues to resonate with both business and private customers, thanks to its advanced efficiency, affordability, and practicality.

In addition to the ZS’ strong performance, the MG HS has also continued to make waves in the UK market, with 9,738 registrations in Q1 2025, positioning it as the seventh best-selling vehicle overall. This consistent performance has cemented MG’s position as a formidable force in the competitive SUV segment.
MG Motor UK’s market share continues to grow, with the brand now commanding 4.24 percent of the UK market, surpassing its 2024 figure of 4.18 percent. This upward trajectory underscores the brand’s increasing appeal, offering a diverse range of vehicles that cater to a broad spectrum of customers seeking practical, value-driven options in the automotive market.
Guy Pigounakis, Commercial Director for MG Motor UK, expressed his optimism about the brand’s future: “The new ZS Hybrid+ has proved to be a notably popular choice with business and private customers, and, alongside the MG HS, is central to our ambition to offer UK motorists an extensive choice of petrol, advanced and efficient hybrid, and electric cars which will always be highly competitive when it comes to overall value.”
Pigounakis also highlighted the brand’s continued focus on innovation and accessibility: “That choice is now further extended with the recent introduction of the MG5 EV, which is based on the award-winning MG4. We’re confident this SUV will appeal to customers considering their first EV and maintain our reputation for delivering accessible, fun-to-drive, and practical electric cars.”
