“Mercedes-Benz Elevates Heavy-Duty Trucking with the Innovative Actros L: A New Era of Efficiency and Comfort”
Since its debut in June 2021, the Actros L has emerged as a defining model in Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ premium heavy diesel-powered truck segment. The brand is elevating its flagship model with an avant-garde design, improved aerodynamics, enhanced comfort, efficient engines, dynamic driving performance, and cutting-edge assistance systems. This latest iteration of the Actros L continues the model’s legacy that began in 1996, showcasing Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ dedication to fulfilling the evolving needs of its customers and drivers, and maintaining its leadership in the market for traditional diesel trucks. The updated Actros L, featuring the ProCabin, is set to be available for orders from April 2024 and will commence production in December 2024.
Rainer Müller-Finkeldei, Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ Head of Development, emphasized the company’s commitment to offering the best vehicle solutions across all types of drive technologies, highlighting the ongoing importance of traditional diesel trucks globally. The new Actros L represents a comprehensive enhancement of their flagship vehicle, marked by a groundbreaking cab design.
The Actros L introduces a radically new aerodynamic design, significantly reducing fuel consumption by up to three percent. The redesign extends from a pre-spoiler and A-pillar deflectors to a streamlined cab front and optimized bumper, all contributing to a smoother airflow and fuel efficiency.
The truck also prioritizes driver comfort with its futuristic ProCabin, available in three sizes, offering features like optimized heating, premium seat covers, a superior mattress, and advanced lighting and electrical outlets. From April 2025, an updated Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 will enhance connectivity and user experience with new features and voice control.
Fuel efficiency is further boosted by the third-generation 12.8-litre OM 471 diesel engine, alongside other engine options. This new engine version, with its advanced turbochargers and exhaust system, offers significant fuel savings and reduced CO2 emissions without sacrificing performance.
Safety innovations in the new Actros L underscore Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ role as an industry leader. The truck includes advanced systems exceeding the upcoming General Safety Regulation standards, with features like Active Brake Assist 6 and Active Sideguard Assist 2, employing sensor fusion technology for comprehensive monitoring and prevention capabilities.
Additionally, the Actros L benefits from semi-automated driving features and intelligent navigation integration through Predictive Powertrain Control, facilitating a more efficient and comfortable driving experience.
