This transmission integrates an electric motor capable of delivering up to 22 kW and 200 Nm of torque, drawing power from a 48-volt 1.3 kWh lithium-ion battery.
The result is a hybrid system that allows the CLA to operate on electric power alone at lower speeds, while regenerative braking recovers up to 25 kW of energy across all eight gears. Drivers can enjoy a responsive performance, with acceleration from 0–62 mph in 8.8 seconds for the CLA 180, 8.0 seconds for the CLA 200, and just 7.1 seconds for the CLA 220 4MATIC, while combined fuel efficiency reaches up to 56.5 mpg.
