Farnham, April 15, 2024 – Medisort, a prominent figure in clinical waste management, has launched a pivotal project to electrify its fleet, adopting BEDEO’s state-of-the-art Reborn Electric RE-100 Range Extender technology. This move highlights BEDEO’s dominance in electric mobility and reinforces Medisort’s dedication to environmental sustainability.
The RE-100 Range Extender by BEDEO is designed to extend the lifespan of Medisort’s X250 diesel vans while dramatically reducing emissions. This technology, which includes a 117 km electric range, blends seamlessly with the vans’ existing diesel systems, allowing for electric-only operation in urban areas and diesel use for longer trips. The retrofit features dual in-wheel motors and a 37 kWh battery from BEDEO’s affiliate, Protean Electric. These motors are compact and fit on the rear axle, which preserves the van’s original load space and cargo systems without modification.

BEDEO has been a leader in electric mobility since 2009, constantly driving innovation in the sector and serving as a trusted partner for major companies in logistics, e-commerce, and waste management. The adoption of the RE-100 by Medisort not only underscores BEDEO’s capabilities but also marks a significant stride in sustainable fleet management.
Stuart Brittle, Managing Director at Medisort, stated, “Electrifying our existing fleet while maintaining our current cargo setup is crucial for our operational continuity. We serve essential industries caring for vulnerable groups, and it’s vital that our transition to greener solutions does not disrupt our services. This initiative is a major step towards enhancing our operations’ sustainability, flexibility, and cost-efficiency.”
Osman Boyner, CEO and Founder of BEDEO, added, “Medisort plays a critical role in numerous communities. It is essential that they continue to operate sustainably. We are committed to supporting their transition towards a sustainable future by providing advanced, cost-effective retrofit solutions that reduce environmental impact while extending vehicle lifespans.”
Medisort’s integration of BEDEO’s technology aligns with global trends towards sustainable practices, particularly in the healthcare sector where reducing emissions is crucial. By retrofitting its fleet with the RE-100 system, Medisort not only aims to lower its carbon footprint but also contributes to the sustainable practices essential in healthcare waste management.
The phased electrification plan began with the deployment of the first retrofitted van, and a second is anticipated later in 2024. This gradual implementation helps Medisort evaluate the technology’s real-world performance and scalability, setting a model for future electrification projects in the waste management industry.
