Although, it has only been two months since official Mazda Southern Africa operations commenced on October 1st 2014, in line with the upcoming festive season, MSA staff embarked on an initiative to collect funds and donations on their personal capacity. The intention was to make a donation to a well deserving charity around the Midrand neighbourhood where Mazda Southern Africa office is based.
It took only a few weeks for MSA staff to collect donations and raise a humble but impressive amount that management matched. Contributions collected ranged from children’s toys, groceries, toiletries, baby supplies and clothes to dog and cat food, blankets and pillows.
Two organisations were selected amongst so many equally deserving institutions; the Thembisa Child Welfare and the SPCA Centurion. A handful of staff members then took time out and went to the institutions for the handovers and got to spend time with the children and the animals alike. The children and pets from these homes displayed the courage and challenger spirit that defies convention which resonated with Mazda staff.
The Thembisa Child Welfare is home to 87 neglected and abandoned children, ages from 0 to 23 years. The SPCA Centurion provides boarding to 63 kennels and an extensive list of services relating to critical animal care. Needs for both welfares include the very basic everyday items that so many take for granted.
