As the 2024 Fanatec GT2 European Series kicks off at the Paul Ricard circuit this April, Maserati is marking its return to the grand stage of GT racing with three GT2 class cars prepared to battle it out for championship glory. Among these contenders, two are championed by LP Racing and one by TFT Racing, all ready to showcase their prowess in this high-stakes European championship.
The debut of Maserati GT2 in last season’s finale, under the aegis of LP Racing with drivers Leonardo Gorini and Luca Pirri, was nothing short of spectacular. This marked Maserati’s triumphant return to GT racing, immediately capturing attention by clinching pole position and a podium finish in their very first race.
Designed exclusively for racing and not for the road, the Maserati GT2 is a beast powered by the enhanced Nettuno V6 90° twin-turbo engine, a powerhouse previously seen in the MC20 but now fine-tuned for track dominance. This car not only carries the legacy of Maserati’s rich racing DNA but is also a testament to the brand’s commitment to performance, aerodynamics, and cutting-edge technology.

The Maserati GT2 is a dream for gentleman drivers seeking the thrill of high-level competition, offering unmatched handling, drivability, and exhilarating performance. It is a direct descendant of the iconic Maserati MC12, poised to recreate and surpass the legendary achievements of its predecessor in the world of motorsport.
Giovanni Sgro, Head of Maserati Corse, expressed pride in the brand’s return to GT racing, highlighting the increasing interest from teams worldwide. Maserati’s strategic focus has been to reignite its racing spirit, providing a car that blends advanced technology with exceptional performance, catering to the needs of motorsport enthusiasts, private teams, and gentleman drivers alike.
In a significant development, Maserati Corse has also announced a strategic partnership with Shell for the GT2 Program, strengthening a 15-year collaboration centered on innovation and excellence. Shell will supply its premium Shell Helix Ultra Maserati 5W-40 engine oil for the MC20 race car, further enhancing its performance.
As the GT2 prepares to compete throughout the 2024 season in prestigious circuits across Europe, Maserati’s return to racing is a testament to its enduring passion for motorsport, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence.
