To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Tignanello, a pioneering red wine renowned for its exceptional quality, Maserati has unveiled a bespoke Fuoriserie edition of its latest GranCabrio Folgore, the pinnacle of the brand’s 100% electric lineup. This one-of-a-kind creation, crafted in collaboration with the esteemed Marchesi Antinori, will be auctioned on July 14 at the Festival Napa Valley’s Arts for All Gala, a premier arts charity event in the United States.
Marking Maserati’s 110th anniversary, this collaboration underscores a celebration of Italian heritage and innovation. Marchesi Antinori, with its 600-year history spanning 26 generations of winemaking, symbolizes the essence of Italian tradition and excellence. Similarly, Maserati, with its storied legacy in automotive history, has consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation and style. Together, they have created a masterpiece that embodies the spirit and passion of both brands.
Drawing inspiration from the vineyard, the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello showcases a unique exterior color, Terra di Tignanello. This chestnut hue, enriched with coppery burgundy tones, reflects the vineyard’s soil and the characteristic red shades of Tignanello’s barrels. The vehicle’s design elements include matte and gloss black rims and calipers, copper-colored emblems, and a soft black top, creating a visually striking appearance.
Inside, the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship and innovative materials. The seats feature a distinctive silver and burgundy ribbed weave made from Vegea, a sustainable fabric derived from vineyards, mimicking the vineyard rows on Tignanello hill. Dark briar wood, laser-etched to resemble oak barrel markings, adorns the panels, while the headrests and central tunnel are embroidered with the Maserati Trident and Tignanello’s iconic sun symbol, commemorating the wine’s legacy from 1971 to 2021.

Klaus Busse, Maserati’s Head of Design, remarked, “This collaboration with Marchesi Antinori epitomizes the essence of bespoke production, the hallmark of our Maserati Fuoriserie customization program. It is designed to create unique experiences for our customers, akin to how an exceptional wine can elevate a dining experience. Narrating a story of Italian excellence fuels our creativity and dedication to crafting unparalleled, tailor-made vehicles.”
Piero Antinori expressed, “Our collaboration with Maserati embodies our relentless pursuit of quality and innovation. This special GranCabrio Folgore, inspired by Tignanello, celebrates our shared heritage and commitment to excellence. We are particularly proud that this unique model will be auctioned at the Festival Napa Valley’s Arts for All Gala, with proceeds supporting charitable causes.”
The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore stands as the first 100% electric convertible in the luxury segment, boasting cutting-edge 800V battery technology derived from Formula E. This enables remarkable performance while maintaining the elegance and comfort synonymous with the Maserati brand. The vehicle accommodates four passengers comfortably, features a soft top, a neck warmer for cooler weather, and a wind stopper to reduce cabin turbulence.
Tignanello, a trailblazer in winemaking, was the first Sangiovese aged in barriques, blended with non-traditional grape varieties, and crafted without white grapes in the Chianti Classico region. This wine, a testament to the Antinori family’s motto, “Te Duce Proficio” (“Following your guide I flourish”), is produced from carefully selected Sangiovese and Cabernet grapes from the Tenuta Tignanello estate, epitomizing the dedication to excellence that defines both Tignanello and Maserati.
