Modena, 18 June 2024 – Maserati commemorates its storied racing heritage with the unveiling of the MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda, two exclusive editions crafted to honor the 20th anniversary of the iconic MC12’s triumphant return to motorsport in 2004 after a 37-year hiatus.
The MC12, renowned for its dominance in GT championships both on the road and track, served as the inspirational cornerstone for Maserati’s MC20 super sports car. Introduced in 2020, the MC20 marked a pivotal moment for Maserati with its innovative V6 Nettuno engine, proudly showcasing Italian engineering prowess.
Limited to just 20 units each, the MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda pay homage to the MC12 Stradale and MC12 GT1 Vitaphone editions, respectively, through distinctive liveries and bespoke enhancements.
The MC20 Icona’s design evokes nostalgia with a livery reminiscent of the iconic 2004 MC12 Stradale, itself a tribute to the historic Maserati Trofeo Light that graced the 24 Hours of Daytona. Adorned in Bianco Audace Matte and Blu Stradale, it features exclusive Fuoriserie customization options, including unique detailing and the prominent Maserati Fuoriserie logo in Bianco Audace on its sleek exterior.
Sporting chrome-plated Trident-designed wheels with blue-accented hubcaps, blue-painted brake calipers, auto-dimming mirrors, and a carbon fiber engine cover, the MC20 Icona blends heritage with modern elegance.
The MC20 Leggenda, named for its legendary inspiration, showcases a striking Nero Essenza and Digital Mint Matte livery, echoing the winning aesthetics of the MC12 GT1 under the Vitaphone Racing banner. Its Fuoriserie touches include Nero Lucido Trident wheels with contrasting Nero Opaco accents, highlighted by yellow Trident logos and black-painted brake calipers.

Both editions boast racing-inspired interiors with lightweight monocoque racing seats, adorned with Trident embroidery and model-specific headrest details. Each car proudly displays a badge commemorating its exclusivity and heritage atop the powerful Nettuno engine cover.
Technological prowess extends throughout, with features such as the Sonus faber sound system, carbon fiber interior package, electronic limited-slip differential (E-LSD), suspension lifter, and advanced safety systems.
Celebrating Maserati’s golden era on the track from 2004 to 2010, the MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda honor the MC12’s legacy with 27 FIA GT Championships victories, multiple 24 Hours of Spa triumphs, and numerous championships for drivers and teams alike.
The MC12 Stradale, conceived by Giorgetto Giugiaro, powered by a potent Ferrari-derived V12 engine, remains an iconic benchmark in Maserati’s history, embodying speed with a top speed of 330 km/h and a 0-100 acceleration of 3.8 seconds, with only 50 units ever produced.
Today, the MC20 Icona and MC20 Leggenda carry forward Maserati’s passion for performance and excellence, symbolizing a continuation of the marque’s rich racing heritage and dedication to automotive innovation.
