Today January 20, 2014 – United States of America – Google USA marked their homepage with a Google Doodle celebrating the live and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. Today also marks a Federal Holiday celebrating the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.
The day was first proclaimed a Holiday by President Ronald Reagan on November 2, 1983 at the Whitehouse and first observed on January 20, 1986. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is traditionally held on the 3rd Monday of January being close to his birthday.
Today’s Google Doodle features a side image of Martin Luther King, Jr. looking at three white doves. White Doves usually portray peace and to the left of Martin Luther King, Jr. is the Washington State Buildings where he delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech which have since then became one of the most significant speeches for all people being oppressed.
Martin Luther King, Jr. have inspired thousands if not millions of people across the globe with his peaceful demonstrations and speeches with the undertone that all people are created equal!
