Centurion, South Africa – October 2025 – The Mahindra Fusion Fest – South Africa’s boldest celebration of art, fashion and music – has returned with a new format, new energy and a powerful creative message: Rise together through fusion.
The 2026 edition kicked off in Cape Town this week, marking the start of a nationwide journey that will bring the festival’s unique blend of creativity and culture to more South Africans than ever before.
A Festival in Motion
The festivities began at the University of Cape Town (UCT), where Mahindra hosted a vibrant Build Up event featuring live performances, graffiti art, fashion, and an interactive showcase of the all-new Mahindra XUV 3XO – the official star of the Fusion Fest roadshow.
The dynamic sport SUV was transformed into a living artwork as local graffiti artists turned its sleek panels into a bold statement of creativity. Students and fans had the chance to test-drive the XUV 3XO and enter the Mahindra Fusion Fest Competition, with prizes including exclusive VIP festival tickets, limited-edition merchandise, and the grand prize – a Mahindra XUV 3XO weekend getaway experience.
Following its high-energy debut in Cape Town, the Fusion Fest will hit the road to Durban, with the next Build Up event confirmed for 16 December 2025 at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The excitement will culminate in a glamorous gala finale on 7 March 2026.
A Cultural Revolution on Wheels
“The growth of the Mahindra Fusion Fest is a reflection of our deepening connection with South Africans through culture, creativity and community,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.
“What began as a celebration of a youthful, vibrant rainbow nation is now strengthening its roots by joining the cultural revolution in our journey to rise together. We are proud to support and grow this unique festival year after year.”
Rocking UCT: Where Creativity Meets Energy
The UCT campus came alive with colour and sound as over 3 000 students and fans gathered for the Build Up launch event. Hosted by Mahindra ambassador Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena, the event featured a standout live performance by rising star Zee Nxumalo, whose energy matched the festival’s dynamic spirit.
Attendees, including well-known media personalities Kyeezi, Ryle Rene De Morny, Neevan Ferris, Kelly Kikx and Missy Roberts, immersed themselves in an interactive world of art installations, games, and fashion showcases.
While the Build Up event was a prelude to the main festival, it successfully captured the Fusion Fest spirit — uniting art, sound, and movement into an unforgettable experience that celebrated South Africa’s next generation of creatives.

Fusion Fest Expands Its Footprint
Last year’s Mahindra Fusion Fest attracted more than 7 000 fans, cementing its reputation as a cultural cornerstone. Building on that success, Mahindra has expanded the 2026 edition into a two-city roadshow — an ambitious move that takes the celebration to both Cape Town and Durban before culminating in the much-anticipated March gala.
This expansion marks a new era for Mahindra in South Africa, as the brand continues to engage audiences through creativity, collaboration, and connection.
Mahindra X Music: The Sound of Fusion
In a country where rhythm fuels identity, Mahindra South Africa is inviting unsigned local artists to submit original tracks inspired by the theme of fusion — whether it’s a blend of genres, cultures, or sounds.
Entries will be judged by Zee Nxumalo and a panel of top industry experts, offering emerging artists a once-in-a-lifetime platform to showcase their talent, gain national exposure, and connect with fellow creatives.
Mahindra X Fashion: The Style of Fusion
The #MahindraFashionSearch calls on young designers to submit up to four original sketches that reflect the spirit of fusion — from cultural and stylistic blends to innovative material use.
Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of leading fashion industry figures, with finalists receiving recognition, exposure, and the opportunity to showcase their creations during the Fusion Fest 2026 gala.
Mahindra X Art: A Canvas for New Voices
For emerging visual artists, Fusion Fest 2026 offers a blank canvas and a powerful message. Participants are invited to submit original works exploring the theme of fusion — through any medium, from painting and sculpture to photography and digital art.
Selected entries will be showcased at Fusion Fest 2026, with masterclasses hosted by established artists and opportunities for rising talent to gain industry visibility.
Where Culture, Cars and Creativity Collide
The Mahindra Fusion Fest continues to evolve as more than just an event — it’s a movement celebrating South Africa’s vibrant creative pulse.
Through its fusion of art, fashion, and music, Mahindra is redefining what it means for an automotive brand to be part of the cultural fabric — driving not just vehicles, but inspiration.
As the XUV 3XO takes the spotlight on this national tour, one thing is clear: Mahindra isn’t just moving people; it’s moving culture.
