December 8, 2011, Nasik: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), a part of the US $14.4 billion Mahindra Group, successfully concluded the Vineyard Escape 2011.

The rally promised to be one of the most interesting escapes that covered some of the best vineyards in the country’s wine making region. More than 25 vehicles from the Mahindra stable maneuvered through the scenic route from Mumbai to Nasik, covering a distance of 400 kms in 2 days. The Escape was planned in association with Buddh International Circuit.

Held under the Mahindra Adventure umbrella, it is part of the Special Escapes planned around different themes to give auto enthusiasts an experience which combines motorsport with the opportunity to experience the speciality of a region.

The convoy was flagged off from the Mahindra plant at Kandivali, Mumbai and traversed through Borivali, Thane, Khodala, Paine Sanjegao to reach ‘Vallee de Vin’ Zampa vineyard for a wine tour followed by lunch. The day concluded with another fascinating wine tour and dinner at the York vineyard.

The next day began with a TSD (time, speed, distance) rally which was flagged off from Hotel Taj Gateway to Vintage wines on the outskirts of Nasik. As the name suggests, TSD rallies are not about outright speed. In fact, the participants are expected to keep track on their watch; the trip meter and navigation plays a big role in successful completion. The convoy then moved to Renaissance Winery at Pimpalgaon and the event concluded at Sula Winery with a felicitation ceremony for the participants.

On the eve of the launch of the Mahindra Vineyard Escape 2011, Mr. Vivek Nayer, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “In keeping with our promise of providing adrenaline pumping challenges under Mahindra Adventure, we are pleased to launch the Vineyard Escape 2011.

Such TSD rallies will leverage the changing aspirations and lifestyles of the youth of India. Further, the journey also aims to celebrate Incredible India by connecting exotic locales of our country in tough and rugged Mahindra vehicles. So here’s your chance to start your engine and ‘get ready to get lost’ in the country’s wine making region. Needless to say these events suit the ‘tough and rugged’ DNA of Mahindra vehicles. ”

Correspondents from magazines and social media participated in this unique rally, driving Mahindra vehicles from Mumbai to Nasik. Once the teams returned from their adventure drives, they shared their experiences and stories on their respective blogs and magazines.
