Milton Keynes, 27 January 2025 – smart UK has announced that Louise O’Sullivan will assume the role of CEO from 1 February 2025, bringing over 25 years of experience in automotive leadership, commercial strategy, marketing, and network operations.
O’Sullivan joins smart UK from Volvo Car Financial Services UK, where she served as Deputy Managing Director and Commercial Director. In this role, she spearheaded business transformation initiatives, supported the transition to agency models, and played a pivotal role in governance and senior leadership.
Prior to her tenure at Volvo, O’Sullivan held several senior positions at Renault Group UK, including Marketing Director and Network Operations Director. During her time at Renault, she was instrumental in shaping multi-brand strategies, advancing electric vehicle programmes, and optimising dealer network performance across the UK and Northern Europe. Her career is marked by a proven ability to drive brand growth, implement strategic business transformation, and champion future mobility initiatives.
“I am delighted to be joining smart at such an exciting time,” said O’Sullivan. “The brand is going from strength to strength, with an award-winning model range—including the #5, recently named What Car?’s Family Electric SUV of the Year—and the upcoming introduction of the new #2. I look forward to leading the company’s continued growth in the UK over the years to come.”
O’Sullivan succeeds Jason Allbutt, who returns to Mercedes-Benz after two years as UK CEO of smart. Her appointment underscores smart UK’s commitment to strengthening its market presence and advancing its portfolio of electric vehicles in the rapidly evolving automotive landscape.
