Coventry, UK – 18 November 2025 – Lotus has once again pushed the boundaries of electric mobility. The Emeya, the brand’s first electric hyper-GT, has shattered its own charging record on the public network, demonstrating unprecedented speed, efficiency, and resilience under extreme conditions.
In an independent test conducted by Lotus Al Ghanim, the official Lotus dealer in Kuwait, Emeya leveraged a 450kW ultra-fast DC charger, reaching a peak charging power of 443kW. This enabled the vehicle to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 13 minutes and 35 seconds — a milestone that sets a new benchmark for high-performance EVs. The test’s success in the region’s intense heat underscores the durability and reliability of both the car and the charging technology.
“At Lotus, we are committed to futureproofing our EVs,” said a company spokesperson. “Emeya’s breakthrough performance ensures that as charging infrastructure evolves, our drivers will always have confidence in their vehicle’s efficiency, capability, and convenience.”
Advanced Battery Technology
Central to Emeya’s performance is its innovative cell-to-pack battery architecture, allowing 20 percent more cells to be packed into the same space compared to standard designs. Complemented by a new cooling system, the battery delivers improved thermal performance and charging efficiency. The 800-volt charging system, shared with the Lotus Eletre hyper-SUV, supports rapid charging regardless of the network, giving drivers unparalleled flexibility and speed.
With WLTC energy consumption as low as 18.7 kWh/100km, Emeya can gain up to 310 km of range in just 10 minutes. The 2026 model year takes this further with a WTLP range of up to 379 miles (610 km), enabling drivers to confidently tackle long-distance journeys.
Seamless Charging Ecosystem
Lotus is enhancing the EV ownership experience with a fully integrated charging ecosystem. The Lotus Cars app and Lotus HyperOS infotainment system provide intelligent EV routing, real-time battery consumption monitoring, and suggestions for alternative routes — all designed to reduce range anxiety and optimise driving efficiency.
The rollout of Lotus’ 450kW ultra-fast DC chargers has already begun in Germany, with plans to expand across Europe. This network ensures that Emeya owners can enjoy the benefits of high-speed charging wherever they travel.
A New Benchmark for Electric Hyper-GTs
Emeya embodies Lotus’ 75-year legacy of engineering excellence, marrying performance with cutting-edge EV technology. As the company’s first electric hyper-GT, it sets a new standard for how a Lotus drives and feels, proving that electric performance can deliver excitement, practicality, and efficiency in one package.
