Liberty Electric Cars is participating together with Volkswagen, Fiat, Michelin, IKA, POLIS, SP and HPL Proto, in the prestigious EU program “DELIVER”, to design a fully electric light commercial vehicle with the goal to reduce the environmental impact in urban areas by 40%.
Liberty Electric Cars has been selected to become one of the major partners of DELIVER thanks to its extensive experience in electric commercial vehicle engineering and design. Its team of highly skilled experts played a crucial role in the development of the Modec truck, a range of 5.5t commercial vehicles that have been sold to a wide variety of customers across Europe.
Operators of the Modec truck include global companies like FedEx, UPS, Tesco’s and Veolia. Their unique team of engineers have created EVs that have driven over 2,500,000 miles – the greatest distance and thus one of the best experiences of any electric vehicle engineering team in the world. They count some 200 man years of automotive engineering expertise and in particular 70 man years of experience in EV technology.
The main objective of DELIVER is to produce a pure electric commercial vehicle that is 40% more efficient than any ICE-powered commercial vehicle on the road today, with a gross weight between 2.2 and 2.5t and a payload of 700 kg. Liberty Electric Cars will be involved in the engineering/design of the vehicle and will be responsible for the build of the final driving prototype. The company will play a key role in the development of the battery and its BMS (battery management system) and will deploy several elements of its proprietary EV technology in the development of this vehicle.

The DELIVER project is co-funded by the European Community’s 7th Framework programme for Research and Technological Development which is the EU’s main instrument for funding research in Europe.
