Lexus South Africa is proud to unveil the new Lexus LX 700h Urban, a refined and more accessible hybrid model within the brand’s flagship SUV range. This launch underscores Lexus’ commitment to progressive electrification, exceptional craftsmanship, and delivering vehicles that respond directly to the evolving needs of its customers.
As Lexus’ flagship SUV, the LX embodies the philosophy of “effortless and refined driving on any road around the world.” It seamlessly blends powerful performance with luxurious comfort, capable of conquering diverse terrains while delivering a sophisticated driving experience.
Introducing the LX 700h Urban
The LX 700h Urban joins the existing LX portfolio alongside the Overtrail and F Sport grades, creating a more attainable entry point into Lexus’ electrified flagship range. Powered by a 3.5-litre V6 twin-turbo hybrid engine, the petrol variant produces an impressive 341kW of total system output, combining 305kW and 650Nm from the petrol engine with 36kW and 250Nm from the electric motor. For diesel enthusiasts, the LX 500d F Sport and Overtrail deliver 225kW of power, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission that ensures smooth, responsive gear changes both in the city and off-road.
“The LX 700h Urban represents a natural evolution of our hybrid flagship range,” says Lexus South Africa. “It offers all the performance, luxury, and versatility expected from an LX, while providing a more accessible entry point for customers looking to embrace hybrid technology.”
Expanded 2025 LX Line-Up
The new Urban grade complements the refreshed LX 700h F Sport and LX 700h Overtrail, alongside the diesel-powered LX 500d F Sport and Overtrail. This seven-seater hybrid option retains the acclaimed 1MT-HEV system, offering the perfect balance of efficiency, capability, and driving pleasure.
By replacing the previous VIP grade, the Urban model provides a sophisticated alternative without altering the existing LX line-up, responding directly to customer demand for attainable hybrid luxury.
Design and Refinement
The LX 700h Urban embraces Lexus’ signature design language, enhanced with premium finishes suited to the urban driver. While the Overtrail prioritises rugged, adventure-ready styling with blacked-out exterior accents, the Urban exudes elegance with chrome and stainless detailing, colour-coded mirrors, and interior touches of Shimamoku wood.
Standing on 22-inch alloy wheels with 265/50 R22 tyres, the Urban offers a commanding road presence, while the Overtrail is equipped with 18-inch wheels optimised for off-road performance. The Urban also features a Centre Differential Lock, whereas the Overtrail goes further with Centre, Front, and Rear Locking Differentials for extreme terrain capability.
Colour Palette
The LX 700h Urban will be available in a carefully curated selection of premium colours: White Quartz, Sonic Titanium, and Manganese Luster as standard, with Terrane Khaki and Graphite Black available on customer request.
Performance, Towing, and Durability
True to the LX legacy, the Urban hybrid continues to deliver robust performance and towing capability, with a braked towing capacity of 3,500kg and an unbraked capacity of 750kg. No mechanical changes have been made to the hybrid drivetrain, ensuring proven durability and reliability.
