Gqeberha, South Africa – July 2025 — In the true spirit of Ubuntu—the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity—LDV South Africa joined hands with Bay FM 107.9 to honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy through impactful community action on Mandela Day 2025.
Anchored by Madiba’s enduring words, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” the partnership brought compassion, purpose, and empowerment to communities across Gqeberha, delivering more than just gestures—it delivered hope.
A Day of Giving, A Journey of Meaning
The day began in Gelvandale and Schauderville, where the Bay FM team visited Uviwe Child and Youth Services. Here, stories came to life as presenters read to children, igniting imagination and encouraging dreams. This powerful act of connection underscored the transformative force of education and storytelling—two cornerstones of Mandela’s vision for a better future.
From there, the team shifted focus to Inn Safe Hands Children’s Home, where they traded microphones for paintbrushes, revitalising the home’s interior and exterior. With each stroke of paint, the space became a little brighter, offering the children a more uplifting environment to call home.
The next stop: Provincial Hospital, where Bay FM joined the national “Secret Scarves Shhh” campaign, an initiative led by 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day. Dozens of colourful, hand-knitted scarves were tied to fences and trees outside the hospital, each bearing a simple, heartfelt message: “I am not lost. If you are cold and need me, please take me.” These small but powerful offerings brought warmth and dignity to those facing the cold Gqeberha winter.

LDV T60: More Than Just a Vehicle
Fueling this meaningful journey was the LDV T60 Max Luxe, a vehicle as dependable as the people behind the mission. Its versatility, power, and comfort ensured seamless transport of supplies, volunteers, and goodwill throughout the day.
“LDV South Africa didn’t just get us to our destinations—they helped drive change,” said Adorè Morgan, Station Manager at Bay FM. “Thanks to their support, we were able to connect with our community in meaningful ways and honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela through action.”
Echoing this sentiment, Neil Barker, Chief Operating Officer of LDV South Africa, added: “Mandela Day is a powerful reminder that each of us can contribute to positive change. We are proud to support Bay FM 107.9 in their heartfelt efforts, and we remain committed to driving impact through community partnerships that uplift and inspire.”
Local Roots, National Purpose
A heartfelt thanks goes to LDV Gqeberha, the newest member of the LDV dealership family, for their vital on-the-ground support. Their presence ensured every stop was executed with precision and care, embodying the values of community and service.
As Mandela Month draws to a close, the message from LDV South Africa is clear: Mandela Day is not just a moment—it’s a movement. It’s a call to action to build better communities, to uplift the vulnerable, and to move forward together with compassion and purpose.
In the hands of those who believe in change, even a vehicle can become a vessel for hope. And on Mandela Day 2025, LDV South Africa helped drive that hope—one meaningful mile at a time.
