Over the past few years, Lanzante has consistently delivered showstopping cars at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This tradition continues in 2024, as the British automotive specialists return with their most exciting and diverse selection of projects to date, each making its public debut. The Lanzante team will showcase their exceptional engineering and craftsmanship with projects based on McLaren and Porsche models. Central to their display—both on their architecturally designed stand and within the Supercar Paddock—are the first two road-converted examples of the Porsche 935.
Built to celebrate the heritage of the iconic racer, Porsche introduced a track-only, second-generation 935 at the Rennsport Reunion in 2019. Based on the 911 GT2 RS, this modern marvel boasts a 3.8-litre six-cylinder twin turbo engine, generating a formidable 700bhp. Out of the 77 examples produced by Porsche, Lanzante was approached by two owners desiring road-legal versions. After nearly 18 months of development and engineering, these first two road-legal Porsche 935s are making their public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The road conversion involved significant upgrades to the track car, including a unique suspension setup, newly designed and engineered wheels, an upgraded braking system featuring an integrated handbrake, a bespoke electronics system, and the seamless integration of custom headlights into the aerodynamic bodywork. These enhancements have been meticulously designed to appear as original, factory-installed components. The two cars on display feature iconic motorsport liveries: the static example showcases a modern take on the red and blue Martini livery, while the Supercar display car sports the renowned red and white Marlboro chevron design.
Lanzante’s striking trackside stand will also feature an impressive lineup of five McLaren models and two Porsches. Among them is the latest example of the Lanzante-developed McLaren P1 HDK, accompanied by a beautifully recommissioned McLaren Speedtail, which recently underwent a comprehensive rebuild, including a chassis change and repairs to all hybrid and wiring systems. Lanzante also replaced the aerodynamically optimized bodywork and applied a bespoke paint finish. Additionally, three Gulf-liveried GTR models—F1 GTR-97, P1 GTR-18, and Senna GTR—will be on display, showcasing Lanzante’s dedication to preserving and enhancing McLaren’s legacy.
The display will also include the latest version of the 1980s Formula 1-engined TAG Turbo model. The ninth car in a series of 11, this model pays tribute to John Watson, who raced with TAG-Porsche power in a McLaren during the 1983 and 1985 seasons. Lanzante will also debut a newly developed, lightweight, and enhanced version of the TAG Turbo, dubbed the TAG Championship. This model, one of only three to be built, honors four-time Formula 1 champion Alain Prost and features his signature patriotic helmet colors.
A highlight of the event will be the ongoing collaboration with ‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett on the ‘MadMac’ drift car. The covers will be pulled from this project at 10 am on the opening day, Thursday, July 11. This venture, celebrating a decade since Mad Mike introduced drifting to the Festival of Speed, has generated significant global interest since its initial announcement. The unveiling follows the initial conversations that took place on the Lanzante stand at Goodwood just 12 months ago.
