Human-Achievement

Whitley, Warwickshire, 15th September 2014 – Land Rover’s inspirational Can and Will campaign will culminate in an evening celebrating human ambition, determination and achievement, captured in the stories of people who have conquered personal and physical challenges to realise their dreams.

Five inspirational speakers will talk about their experiences in an evening at the Royal Geographical Society in London on 17 September, hosted by Land Rover in collaboration with 5×15. Each will speak for 15 minutes, interpreting the concept of Can and Will in the context of their own lives.

The prestigious line-up features:

  • Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who is described by the Guinness Book of Records as “the world’s greatest living explorer”. Sir Ranulph’s long list of achievements includes being the first person to cross both ice caps via the poles and climb the world’s highest peak.
  • Karren Brady is one of Britain’s best-known business figures and a champion of women in business. Newly appointed a peer and member of the House of Lords, Karren is a vice-chairman of West Ham United and known to millions through her involvement in BBC’sThe Apprentice.
  • Mike Goody, an RAF Senior Aircraftsman who served in Afghanistan. Having lost a limb when his patrol was hit by an IED, Mike is currently representing Britain at the Invictus Games presented by Jaguar Land Rover. He is competing on behalf of the British Armed Forces Team in the swimming team.
  • Pamela Warhurst, a community champion and founder of Incredible Edible Todmorden, a group promoting community renewal through the reclamation of disused land for growing produce. After years of work with Countryside Agencies, local Councils and the NHS trust in her region, Pamela was awarded a CBE for services to the environment in 2005.
  • Mick Ebeling, the founder and CEO of Not Impossible Labs, a group which focuses on creating technology for the sake of humanity. His personal motto is “If not now, when? If not me, who?” This motto allowed him to establish the world’s first 3D printing prosthetic lab and training facility.

Jeremy Hicks, Managing Director Jaguar Land Rover UK, said: “Through Can and Will we have been able to interpret qualities that are at the heart of the Land Rover brand in the context of human experience. Through our dedicated website we have provided a platform to bring together remarkable stories of endeavour and achievement that conquer all kinds of obstacles. Similarly, the speakers contributing to our evening at the Royal Geographical Society have each demonstrated personal determination and depth of character in very different ways to achieve very different goals, but in essence each one of them embodies the spirit of Can and Will.”
