Today, Kia UK Limited is proud to celebrate International Women’s Day 2023 (IWD23) by holding a companywide event focused around the #EmbraceEquity theme along with its ongoing directive to promote inclusive leadership, raise awareness about discrimination and drive gender parity.
International Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and calling on everyone to accelerate equality.
At Kia, we’ll be taking the opportunity to share a video showcasing inspiring career stories of women in the business and providing an update from Kia’s women’s network Strive, on its plans for the year ahead. These focus on giving a voice to women and supporting inclusion through thought leadership, career coaching and mentoring.
Special guest and multi award-winning author, speaker and consultant, Thais Compoint will also speak directly to Kia’s employees about, “Why gender equality is everyone’s business”.
Thais is a seasoned TEDx speaker and is highly regarded throughout the business industry. She has also published a book titled, “How to Succeed as an Inclusive Leader”.
At the start of the year, Kia launched a new Inclusion Plan covering leadership, recruitment, talent and support for employees with a focus on diversity, inclusion and equality. As part of this plan, Kia UK is partnering with Moving Ahead to deliver inclusive leadership training for all its staff this year; to tackle gender stereotypes, call out discrimination and draw attention to bias.
Kia continues to work closely with the Automotive 30% Club and is engaging with the Automotive Council UK on its Diversity and Inclusion Charter. This aims to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace where everyone is welcomed, respected and enabled to play their part in helping drive the future of mobility in the UK and globally.

Also announced today, the all-new Kia Niro has won the overall title as Supreme Winner of the Women’s World Car of the Year (WWCOTY) 2023, following its ‘Best Urban Car’ class win. This award marks Kia’s fourth consecutive year of success in the WWCOTY awards, having won in 2022 with the Sportage, 2021 with the Sorento, and 2020 with the XCeed and Soul EV. The awards are judged by 63 of the most highly respected female motoring journalists from 45 countries across the world.
