In a landmark move towards more connected, safer, and personalised mobility, Kia has announced a strategic collaboration with LexisNexis® Risk Solutions to integrate advanced driving risk insights into its all-new Kia App. The partnership marks a significant step in Kia’s ongoing transformation of the driving and ownership experience across Europe.
At the heart of this collaboration is the LexisNexis® Drive Metrics model — a sophisticated analytics tool that offers Kia drivers a consumer-friendly, risk-based driving score. This personalised score, now available within the new Kia App, enables users to understand their driving habits better, make safer on-road decisions, and, crucially, reduce their insurance costs through tailored coverage options.
Driving Towards Safer Roads
Kia’s commitment to building a robust connected vehicle ecosystem has already reshaped how millions of European drivers interact with their cars. Now, with the integration of Drive Metrics, Kia is empowering customers with real-time feedback on driving behaviours such as speeding, harsh braking, acceleration patterns, and driving frequency. These insights don’t just highlight areas for improvement—they form the basis for smarter, usage-based insurance policies that reward responsible driving.
“Connected services are reshaping the driver experience, and having a data-based driver score is a significant step towards safer driving and more personalised mobility,” explains Olivier Pascal, Head of Connected Cars at Kia Connect. “We are empowering our customers with real-time driving insights while supporting the insurance industry with meaningful, privacy-conscious data, enabling insurance providers to deliver tailored solutions like never before.”

Putting Drivers in the Driver’s Seat
Crucially, Kia drivers maintain full control over how their driving data is used. With their explicit consent, the Drive Metrics score can be securely shared with participating insurers to support personalised policy pricing and more accurate risk segmentation. It’s a win-win: safer drivers enjoy potential savings, while insurers gain better tools to assess risk and tailor coverage accordingly.
James Burton, Managing Director of Europe and UK Insurance at LexisNexis® Risk Solutions, adds: “We are pleased to collaborate with Kia Europe on this important endeavour to help Kia owners proactively lower their cost of vehicle ownership. Leveraging a scoring service that utilises our Drive Metrics model, automakers are better positioned to support their owners and insurers with more accurate segmentation based on actual driving risks.”
A New Era of App Integration
The launch of this initiative coincides with the release of Kia’s newly consolidated mobile platform. The Kia App now merges multiple standalone applications—Kia Connect, Kia Charge, MyKia, the Kia Warranty Book, and the Kia Owner’s Manual—into one seamless, user-centric experience. This consolidation streamlines access to connected services, charging information, warranty documents, and vehicle manuals, all while introducing the innovative driver scoring feature.
Available across the EU and the UK, the Kia App reinforces the brand’s mission to simplify, personalise and enhance every aspect of vehicle ownership.
Kia’s partnership with LexisNexis® Risk Solutions underscores the brand’s future-forward vision: combining smart technology, customer empowerment, and meaningful data to create a safer, more intelligent driving experience. With greater insights and more control at their fingertips, Kia drivers are now better equipped than ever to take the wheel—both literally and figuratively.
