Kia continues its drive to enhance customer experience and simplify choice with the introduction of a streamlined three-tier grade structure for two of its most popular internal combustion engine (ICE) models, the Picanto and XCeed. Mirroring the successful format already adopted by the latest Sportage and Kia’s electric vehicles, this new approach replaces the previous more complex grading with a clear and easily understandable lineup: ‘Pure’, ‘GT-Line’, and ‘GT-Line S’.
Simplified Choices, Enhanced Appeal
By consolidating the former Picanto and XCeed variants—such as ‘2’, ‘3’, ‘GT-Line’, and ‘GT-Line S’—into three distinct trims, Kia has crafted a more straightforward purchasing journey for customers without compromising on specification or style. The entry-level ‘Pure’ trim merges the previous ‘2’ and ‘3’ grades, delivering improved value with popular features that customers have requested, while the sporty ‘GT-Line’ and top-tier ‘GT-Line S’ retain the dynamic styling and premium specifications synonymous with Kia’s design ethos.
This new line-up is designed to provide clarity and consistency across Kia’s ICE models, marking the beginning of a brand-wide shift to a uniform grading system.
Kia Picanto MY26: A Compact Classic Refined
The Picanto, a cornerstone of Kia’s UK portfolio for over two decades, remains one of the brand’s best-selling models and a firm favourite in the A-segment. Celebrating its 21st year in the market and having evolved through three generations and multiple updates, the Picanto continues to impress with its blend of efficiency, compact practicality, and refined styling.
For the model year 2026, the Picanto is offered exclusively with a 1.0-litre Gasoline Direct Injection (GDi) petrol engine producing 67bhp, paired with a choice between a five-speed manual transmission (5MT) or a five-speed automated manual transmission (5AMT). The new simplified range offers six variations, down from the previous eight, helping buyers find the right car faster.
Adding a touch of premium flair, the ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’ trims now feature a new Yacht Blue paint option, joining the palette of six premium colours available at a modest £600 including VAT. All models come standard in Clear White, free of charge.

Kia XCeed MY26: Efficient Power with Sporty Flair
The Kia XCeed, a pivotal player in Kia’s C-SUV segment since its 2019 debut, also adopts the new three-tier lineup. The ‘Pure’ trim now offers enhanced equipment, merging and improving upon previous entry-level specifications. Noteworthy additions include heated and electrically adjustable door mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, electric driver lumbar support, automatic air conditioning, and driver convenience features like paddle shifters and drive mode selection.
Under the bonnet, the XCeed introduces a more efficient 1.0-litre Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection (T-GDi) engine with 48V mild hybrid technology, delivering 113bhp and 200Nm of torque. This downsized, tech-enhanced powertrain reduces CO2 emissions and improves fuel economy, exemplified by the ‘GT-Line’ variant’s WLTP combined rating rising from 44.8 to 47 mpg.
For those seeking greater performance, the ‘GT-Line S’ is now offered with a robust 1.6-litre T-GDi engine producing 177bhp and 265Nm torque. This powertrain propels the XCeed from 0 to 62 mph in a spirited 8.5 seconds, topping out at 130 mph, while remaining exclusively paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
All XCeed models are front-wheel drive, with manual and dual-clutch transmission options on most trims except the performance-focused ‘GT-Line S’.

Looking Ahead: A Cohesive Kia Range
The launch of the MY26 Picanto and XCeed with their new three-tier model structures signals Kia’s strategic move toward simplifying its ICE and hybrid line-ups, ensuring an intuitive, consistent buying experience across the brand. This rationalised approach will soon extend to additional models, harmonising Kia’s portfolio and helping customers navigate their choices with ease and confidence.
With deliveries starting in September 2025, the refreshed Picanto and XCeed are set to continue their roles as vital contributors to Kia’s growth and appeal in the highly competitive UK market.
