The all-new Kia Seltos has officially stepped onto European soil, marking the second generation of Kia’s globally successful subcompact SUV and its first-ever entry into the continent’s fast-growing C-SUV segment. Already Kia’s second best-selling model worldwide, the Seltos arrives with the clear intent of strengthening the brand’s SUV footprint at a pivotal moment in Europe’s transition toward electrification.

Positioned in one of the most competitive and rapidly expanding segments in the market, the Seltos blends authentic SUV character with advanced usability and intelligent technology, offering a package designed for modern European drivers who want practicality without compromising on presence or innovation. Manufactured in Korea for UK-bound models, it will launch in hybrid-only form in the United Kingdom, with full specifications and pricing to follow in Q3 2026.

Built on Kia’s evolving design philosophy, the Seltos reflects the brand’s ‘Opposites United’ approach, where rugged ICE SUV heritage meets the clean sophistication of EV-inspired styling. Its proportions measure 4,430 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width and 1,600 mm in height, supported by a 2,690 mm wheelbase that unlocks generous interior space within compact urban-friendly dimensions. The exterior design is defined by Kia’s Star Map signature lighting, a slim, futuristic lighting pattern integrated into the front fascia, while strong shoulder lines and a floating roof profile reinforce its dynamic stance. At the rear, a wide lighting graphic enhances visual breadth, complemented by aerodynamic detailing and a hidden rear wiper that keeps the design clean and modern.

Buyers will be able to choose from multiple design expressions including standard, GT-Line and X-Line trims, each bringing a distinct personality ranging from refined everyday versatility to sporty character or rugged SUV attitude. European exclusivity is reinforced through new colour options including Tan Beige, Denim Blue and Pale Grey, expanding a palette that spans up to ten finishes.

Inside, the Seltos embraces a cabin concept that feels closer to an electric vehicle than a traditional combustion SUV. Wide horizontal architecture creates a sense of openness, while a carefully structured layout prioritises clarity and comfort. A panoramic integrated display dominates the dashboard, combining a 12.3-inch digital cluster, a 5.3-inch climate interface and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen into a unified digital environment. Ambient lighting with up to 64 colour options adds emotional depth to the cabin, while premium materials elevate the overall feel.

Comfort and usability are central to the experience. Features such as a wide panoramic sunroof, reclining rear seats with up to 24 degrees of adjustment, a relaxation-focused driver seat, and a Harman Kardon premium audio system ensure that both everyday commuting and longer journeys are handled with ease. Cargo capacity stands at a generous 536 litres, supported by flexible storage solutions including a dual-level cargo floor and Kia’s AddGear modular accessory system for tailored organisation.

Technology plays a defining role in the Seltos’ identity. The model introduces Kia Digital Key 2.0 for smartphone-based access and sharing, alongside Kia Connect services that enable personalisation, over-the-air updates and even entertainment features such as streaming integration. An AI-powered assistant adds conversational interaction to the driving experience, while Vehicle-to-Load functionality extends the vehicle’s utility beyond mobility, allowing external devices to be powered directly from the hybrid system. It also becomes the first hybrid in Hyundai Motor Group’s lineup to introduce V2L capability.

Under the skin, the Seltos is engineered for confidence and versatility. Both petrol and hybrid versions are offered globally, but European markets will benefit from electrified focus and available all-wheel drive across both ICE and HEV configurations. The hybrid e-AWD system is a first for Kia, distributing torque intelligently to improve traction, stability and control across varying road conditions. Drive Mode Select allows drivers to switch between Eco, Normal and Sport settings, adapting the vehicle’s character to urban traffic, motorway cruising or more dynamic driving.

Performance is led by a 1.6-litre T-GDI petrol engine delivering up to 180PS and 265Nm, paired with either manual or dual-clutch transmission options. The hybrid range expands efficiency and refinement, offering outputs of 154PS in two-wheel drive form and 178PS in e-AWD specification. Structural rigidity improvements and enhanced noise insulation contribute to a smoother, more composed ride quality, reinforcing its suitability for both city environments and longer European journeys.

Safety and driver assistance sit at the core of the Seltos development programme. A full suite of Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems supports the driver through features such as Highway Driving Assist 2, Smart Cruise Control, Lane Following Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and a Surround View Monitor. Parking is made easier through remote smart parking functionality and collision avoidance systems, while Safe Exit Warning enhances protection for passengers when exiting the vehicle. A head-up display projects key driving information onto the windscreen, ensuring attention remains on the road.

Kia’s European leadership has emphasised that the Seltos is designed to bridge different stages of electrification across markets, offering a versatile SUV that delivers advanced EV-inspired technologies in a more accessible format. As electrification progresses unevenly across Europe, the Seltos is positioned as a strategic connector model that brings innovation such as e-AWD and V2L into a mainstream SUV package.

With its combination of bold design, intelligent space utilisation, hybrid efficiency and advanced connectivity, the Kia Seltos enters Europe not as an incremental update, but as a confident redefinition of what a compact SUV can be in a rapidly evolving automotive landscape.
